We'll still cook up the same robust blend of food news, culture and politics, opinion, cooking tutorials, heartfelt essays, goofy musings and eye-rolling food puns that Eatocracy has been serving on the blog for the past four years. But expect an extra helping of slow-braised, bigger, badder, deeper stories that might even (gasp!) take us away from our desks every once in a while and out into the unknown.

I know I ruffled some Black Duck feathers a few days ago….I too was venting my anger and a short girl from Kentucky stepped into the firing line. I'm sad that we as a Family are losing our Home Away from Home. This place has been "Special " in my heart for many years–The people I have met–Not only online,but in person is a memory that can never be taken away from any of us. Fine Klatsch humans! I get the sense that many of you have moved on, but hopefully are keeping in touch. It's getting harder and harder to clean up the robot mess here, and since we're not actively posing anymore, we're hoping that those who want to will move over to this thread that we've had up since early August: http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/28/living/eatocracy-coffee-klatsch/
I get that change is hard, but this new environment over there is where we have long wanted to go editorially. Sarah and I are both able to focus on bigger, better, more in-depth stories on all the beats we cover - and leave our desks to report every once in a while.
I very much hope you will join us there. This all goes to say that I wanted to give people time to share contact info just in case it all goes wacky. I'm not saying goodbye - just see you at the new house. 10/1 is the last day we'll have comments open on the blog and after that, they'll be closed.
Yeah, it's weird. But I hope you'll make the leap with us. I've spend many, many, many, many hours of my work and personal time trying to make sure y'all have had a place to commune for the past few years. I hope you know I always have, and continue to give a damn about Los Klatchmenons.

A huge, huge, HUGE thank you for keeping us going over all these years. I know we were a byproduct of your original vision of Eatocracy and yet you didn't just ignore us or abandon us. For that and your patience, I thank you. This place has been a place were I have come to get away from a stressful work day or to just share a laugh, I never in a million years thought reading JDizz's comments would make me a regular here and the firendships formed – its been a fun ride. While I am limited to use discus, I will try to keep an eye out for things on the new site.
This is not goodbye and thank you again for all your work – your true passion and character shine through and you have made other better people because of it Kat. If you are ever in Wash DC, send me a tweet (@TallPaulDC) as I'd love to buy you a drink or break bread with you.

Yes, those. Add in any of the Harry Potter movies, too. In both cases (both equaling 10 movies) the books were better, but the movies were equally entertaining for me.
As far as the slip, haven't worn one in many, many years. So no. ~_~
Throw in "The Hunger Games" to the HP series...The franchise seems to have everything from a strong heroine in JLaw (who seems to remind me of a MShannon for the Millennial crowd) to Don Sutherland (from the original M*A*S*H) as a GREAT villain, and a really well written screenplay. Looking forward to the next installment.
In other movie news, I think I have Bride now hooked on Ayn Rand. Spent part of the weekend dissecting Atlas Shrugged from the t!tle on down, then watched the original Fountainhead, with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal. Good stuff there...
I've read Atlas Shrugged. Haven't seen the movie yet. Those oldies are hard for me to watch partly because of their often slow pace. I have not read the Hunger Games or the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series' yet – and I want to before seeing the movies.
If mammary serves, JBJ blessed me with that moniker. It's not one I would have picked myself ... because it would be .... underdeveloped. ~_~

Grill thin slices of spam, basted in a italian dressing w/ your favorite hot sauce added. Pour out most of the oil first to keep flames from licking the food. I use this grilling chicken, the Spam is kind of an appitizer since it comes off first.

I don't think Jim was yelling at you, but I think he rather was venting his frustration at the changes that are taking place in a community that we all have come to care about and very much appreciate and cherish. Several years ago, CK took off in large part to YOUR innovation and perception that we were becoming bigger than the sum of our parts. IOW, you helped to nurture and grow the Klatch into just that tightly knit and mutually supportive community.
Although we do not say it nearly often enough, THANK YOU to both you and SLT, for all of the support and work that you do, especially behind the scenes and on your own time. I know that you must see us as often unruly children, but that should never diminish the affection and appreciation that we hold you both in. You have consistently shown yourself to be a thoroughly open and sensitive person, and while I cringe at the level of garbage that you must have to endure, Nobody should have to do that, especially someone of your sensitivity.
I think I speak for the majority of us when I say that the hardest part of embracing change is letting go of a community we have come to love. While Disqus will eventually be accepted and the bugs worked out, it is human nature to want that which is familiar to us. Please do not ever read that as any form of a personal attack, We love and support all that you do and have done for us.
I know what you mean. I had been posting on the belief blogs for years, then, BAM, all comments closed. No taperring off even. I may never get to post a farewell to people I have chatted with for the last 5 years.

RC, Your company blocks Disqust as do a majority of companies because of its invasiveness. Yes it peaks into your PC. It retrieves your real email address and other goodies, like the programs you have and other juicy statistics.
In short it takes up too much of the corporate bandwidth.
How do you think Disqust makes money? It is in a profit sharing program with large internet sites like CNN.
We are revenue to them. If one person is worth between $26 and $42 to facebook for all the info they glean, I'm guesstimating each person on Disqust is worth $2-4 easy. The more you comment, the more you are worth.
I have seen, observed and participated in very large "communities", with large diverse populations that thrived off the differences of opinion about the topics they were passionate about. Over a course of 3 ore so years, the ones I have been a big part of, have been devastated by Disqus. Disqus is a Blogger's Roundup, nothing but crickets left.
That said, I offer this about that:
* Corporations also block widgets and elements like Disqust because it has no "corporate value" , meaning too much of their employees time is wasted on places like Disqust. That is probably the most likely reason you cannot use it at work. Try it on wifi at some lunch place and it'll probably work.
Yeah, I think you're right on the money about corporate "blocking". Even being able to access CNN is in itself a minor miracle, let alone Diqust. I'm still surprised I can even post here from work.

So I'm at the market this morning looking for coconut milk, fish sauce, curry paste to make satay later...stop by the Hispanic section and find the milk, go to the Asian section and the milk is $.70 more (diff brand). I've noticed this before with spyces, bullion, beans, etc. you're welcome :))
Update on my chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce...I need a new recipe, all I could taste was the coconut milk and maybe the fish sauce and/or curry paste, not my fave. I need a more Americanized recipe please.

You seem to throw us regulars in with the people making trouble on individual stories written by yourself or others. As one of THE Original 3 on this site-WE know BETTER. When you first started this Blog,sure we tried to get away with as much as possible,yet….Where else could you get the promos for people to look at it with the Endorsements of The View or Anderson Cooper on his syndicated program. We The Klatsch did something that is uncommon on the Internets….We Bonded as a family,kept up with each other over the years and truly became friends to this day. In my opinion, YOU threw us under the bus today and then hit reverse in case you missed. The Klatsch is NOT the problem. Please look elsewhere to vent your anger and then fix the damn Disgus site or do away with it.

Please don't yell at me. I often feel like I get all of the blame for stuff over which I have no control, and I have only ever gone out of my way to make a place for people to gather. I don't get paid extra - in fact, some higher-ups have asked me to stop over the years. But I know you all bonded, so I try to do my best.
I lumped everyone in because you don't see what I have to see. In order for The Klatsch to remain usable, I have to do a lot of things you never see on the front end. The banning, the cleaning, the purging, the refining of the filter - it's emotionally foul work I have to put in so you don't ever see it.
Being accused of not caring and throwing you under the bus really actually hurts. You have no idea what I've done to keep this around, the hours I've spent and the arguments I've had to have. Please remember, I'm a human being, would you?

I'm OK with the new site, but you have to admit it is a little lonely over there...some people are having technical issues with it and some philosophical issues with it. I'll keep posting here, there, anywhere...
I haven't been here as long as some of the others, but I do feel saddened, too. I know you are not CNN, and thus don't make the decisions. Disgust is not the best service, by any means. I feel like I'm being forced into some sort of lock-step by them. At any rate, I'll try, or continue to try, but a lot of the posts that should be on Eatocracy leave no room for commentary anymore.
It's a work in progress and folks like David Williams are definitely paying attention, I promise! We're listening, and he posted his e-mail if you want to get in touch.

Disqus forces one to use a real email address and that also is easy to spoof. Still, a high school kid with half a brain can do that. It probably isn't worth the trouble to post here though.

Unfortunately Eatocracy no longer has a individual feed on the new site so It's time to say goodbye to the Eatocracy feed in my RSS reader. I get 100 stories a day from various sites and I don't have time to check Eatocracy every day.
