Pssst! Got a sec to chat? We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the weekly Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic. You can always find it from the link in the left rail, or by bookmarking

Expensive couple of days here. New brakes, new radiator too since mine took a dump two days before my brake appointment, daughter turns 10 tomorrow. Good thing Monday is payday.

T-G-I-F! Just finished a 1 hour presentation to about 50 people with less than a weeks notice and it came off (~_~ nod to AleeD) swimmingly! I think this deserves a nice lunch out and maybe an early start to the weekend this afternoon.

    Weekend plans anyone?

I was thinking 3 too, but then realized every one of my employees are leaving early! What's wrong with that picture!?

Tomorrow, mani, pedi, haircut, car wash, laundry, grocery shopping, and meeting with a fence guy for an estimate!

Spending your spare time learning how to duel? ^_^

I'm going to help hubby fix the guest bathroom toydee ... by being anywhere else. Plumbing makes my palms sweat. Eeesh. Then we're going to check out a new store that recently opened near us.

          June 20, 2014 at 2:26 pm |
        • ™©JbJiNg!eŚ®™@AleeD

Ha on the dueling! I'm hoping to get them to put the fence back a few feet, creating a retaining wall and giving me a few more feet of backyard space for my raised bed garden(s) I plan to install...

Yeah, I don't do terlits either, that's why they have the smell-good plumbers.

It's Friday, YAY! Still no inspection on my home, BOO! Hoping to get some news today, but doesn't look promising as of yesterday, inspectors are refusing to give a date, huh? It's been two weeks since it was requested. I wish I could just pick a date to pay my taxes, sometime in the future, I'll let ya know when. o.O

    June 20, 2014 at 10:53 am |
    • TNT @Jerv

Geez, wth is their deal??? I like the pick a tax due date, tho. Lol!

      • TNT

Lol! I did it again!!! Ok, removing "@ Jerv" now.

        June 20, 2014 at 1:30 pm |
    • ™©JbJiNg!eŚ®™@TNT@Jerv

LOL – I know, these are public employees, correct? My taxes pay their salary, wish I could delay their pay by 2 weeks...then we would see how fast they would respond.

Since the construction company/builder is the one requesting, I have to go on what they tell me, but they said there are several homes waiting on the inspections.

I don't think that they care about lil ole me, but sheesh, living in a hotel this long is a drag and expen$ive!

      June 20, 2014 at 1:36 pm |
    • ∞ Weeds ∞

Am I to understand you haven't gone into settlement and this delay is due to the seller and its parties? Am I also to understand that there is not late penalty clause in your contract? I'd recommend you first demand the seller cover your living/layover expenses during this time. This request will more likely be denied but it will be important for your case if you make a legal pursuit to recuperate all your expenses accrued because of the sellers mismanagement.

      June 20, 2014 at 3:03 pm |
      • ™©JbJiNg!eŚ®™@∞ Weeds ∞ the attorney

No, not exactly, it's new construction and no hard date was in the contract because inspections, city electric/gas meters installed are outside builders control, so I don't think I have any recourse...but I will try to get a few upgrades if possible, but unlikely. Oh well. I have a roof over my head and I am safe, so not so much of a complaint against the process but a rant of frustration!

        June 20, 2014 at 4:03 pm |
        • ∞ Weeds ∞

          Its in my blood.
I'm sorry too. Though I don't know you per se, I share your frustration and I guess I'm sticking my nose out to see if there is a way to light a fire under someone's arse. I've done my share of living out of suitcases on travel. No fan of hotels; so much so that even though I had all expenses paid and a room reserved at a Hilton, I spent a good portion of that summer camping instead. Great time. It was amusing to see some people's expressions in the campground bathroom in morning as I was adjusting my tie in the mirror.
I hate to say it but the closer the 4th of July gets, the better RH's prediction is.
My last advice to you: Put your grill together, find a quiet place near the pool and make a picnic. Enjoy your weekend! I am and I spent too much time typing this as my grill is now yelling – Light Me UP!

Happy Turdsday (nod to the t-rolls ;) everyone!

My homelessness continues, *sigh*, inspectors are pointing fingers at each other, so builder was going to call Sacramento yesterday to see if they can get things resolved with a supervisor...not sure that Sacramento cares though!

We are heading into 92 degrees today, which means it will be between 95-97!

    • AleeD® @ ™©JbJiNg!eŚ®™

Man I'm glad SOMEONE around here is paying attention. I just wished one of my vendors a Humpy Hapday. Sheesh, what a brane fahrt.

Sorry to hear you're still homeless. Maybe you could bribe the builder with a BBQ. "You get my home finished and I'll whip you up something real nice." Then after he finishes – keep pushing the date. >;->

      • ™©JbJiNg!eŚ®™@AleeD

Ha ha, NO. The sales guy was replying to me yesterday saying how much they want to finish my home because it's costing THEM money everyday! That set me off in a real bad way, I should apologize for my response, but the lack of sympathy and empathy he has shown for the last four weeks makes me not want to. :P

Has anyone here had a sub/sandwich at a Wawa? Wawa's are new round these parts and I've heard good things about their sandwiches. I'm just not sure if "they have awesome subs!" means quant!ty or quality.

One of these praisers is also proud of the fact that he survives eating "sketchy sushi." :) So there's a strong case for c u m grano salis.

Looks like an East Coast thang, their website shows a picture of a store with a gas station out front, and lots of "grab and go" options...I would be leary of how long they have been sitting around before purchase, but the wraps look decent in the pictures.

      June 19, 2014 at 11:03 am |
      • AleeD® @ TNT & JBJ

I'm not sure how far West Wawa's has spread. My first encounter with them was during a trip to DE to visit ihubby's family. It was like a 7-11 to me. Nogreatshakes. Fast forward to 2 years ago, the local media is all a-twitter about Wawa coming to town – now it's here and I haven't stepped foot in one yet.

They tout making the perfect sandwich every time because you're ordering it thru some walk-in computer system. Push a button, get that item on your sub. Neat, but is it a good sub? I'll wait to see if any of our East coasters have indulged. Thanks for the input.

          Good Friday morning!
A computer system? Is this sub made by a "real" person or a robot? Lol!
I think I'd be concerned about the freshness, especially the meat/cheese. Good idea to wait & see what others think...or see if they get sick. 😉

Don't sweat the typos. Everybody makes 'em. Computer ordering system but made by humans. I have a pretty robust immune system, so I'm not concerned about germs. Freshmess? I'll eat at Subway in a pinch. This would give me an alternative, um, pinch if needed.. Next time I'm in a hurry for lunch, I may give 'em a shot.

Still interested to hear if someone has eaten at a Wawa's tho'.

We ate at this little mom & pop place one time. You ordered at your table from a computer on the wall & then the waitress would bring it out to ya. Went back a couple years later & they didn't do it anymore. Guess it was too confusing for some people. (elders) Good food tho & the desserts were all made there. We split a piece of butterscotch cream pie, it was so good!

Puppy update: (OK, not a puppy - she's 12 1/2, but I think of her as such.) She's doing better. I took her in and she got IV fluids, anti-nausea meds and is on antibiotics. Her appetite is making a return and what's coming out of her is considerably less alarming. She's curled up with a stuffed rabbit right now, and I'm considering having her surgically attached to me until she's better. I really appreciate your kind thoughts and words!

Big GOT fan here. Finished the books a month or so before the first episode aired. It's a good series that pretty much follows the book.
It is not a series where you can jump in a show and quickly figure out the plot mainly because there are many.
One difference is in the book the author was into food porn and described meals and feasts with great detail and gusto. In the TV series it does seem to focus on the erotica more, I assumed this was for the Shades of Gray crowd – give them their fantasy too.
