Geez, talked to the service manager and the inspection that was ordered last week is still not done...need this to order the electric and gas meters installed, which could take 7-14 more days after ordered. I feel like my life is on hold, business trips cancelled, mom was supposed to stay with me while auntie went to Alaska, no mail delivery (don't get me going postal on that this past weekend)...*sigh*

Hollandaise sauce on asparagus? It is my favorite way of eating it. I'd eat it at breakfast with eggs, it sounds like a natural combo. Add some grits and few biscuits with some country ham, with some redeye and/or greyhorsey and that'd rock my morning. Man, I can't wait for a big breakfast this weekend.

        • RichardHead@Our Fearless Leader--KAT

My name is Jim and I received my CDL ( Commercial Drivers License ) in 1989 from an accredited school in Abilene,Texas that is still in business today. There has been much speculation and innuendo ( I'm looking at you, Nancy Grace ) concerning this Walmart crash, that injured a famous comedian and killed his mentor, plus the injuries of others in his Limo. So question #1 to Ms. Grace-How do you know that this Driver had been driving for 24 hours ?? Have YOU seen his OBC-( On Board Computer ),looked at his Qualcomm also known as an ELB-( Electronic Log Book ),or even seen the results of a blood and alcohol test that is Mandatory after any Fatal crash, and takes from 3 to 10 days to get final results…depending on the lab used ? No,I didn't think so. You pull up a Twitter account that has NOT at this time been proven to be this Drivers. Pure Speculation on your part.
Question #2-Walmart has an excellent Driving History. Drivers are Proud to say they work and Drive for Walmart. A Minimum of 3 to 5 years of Accident free driving ( Verified ) before they will even give you an interview. It is a job most Professional Drivers strive for.
Question #3–To the DOT and Congress–You continue to add rules and regulations on Drivers that are unproven.–I found myself MORE tired under these present rules than when I was running paper logs. Paper logs are in 15 minute increments,ELB is to the minute. As stated in the video,Who knows better when a person is tired,NOT a computer,or a piece of paper…It is the Driver. I have Always told newbies-" There is NO load worth killing yourself or someone else just for cents on the mile." Yet Dispatchers at these Companies keep pushing the Drivers…YOU have to be on time with this delivery, think of how it will make the company look if your late. We have an excellent On Time Delivery Rating…and think about your Bonus while your at it. Of course,All of this is said over the telephone,NEVER the OBC. When you get that message on the OBC-" Plz,call me " you know the BS is about to start.
My #1 problem is…Where are these trucks suppose to park at night to take the mandatory 10 hour break ? I was driving 48 states and the Majority of State Rest Areas were CLOSED–either due to renovation-looking at you Nevada,New York New Jersey and others.or they don't have enough money for security to police the areas and just shut them down. Trucks are parked on the entrance ramps, the exit ramps,on the shoulder of the highway,or the next exit on the side of the road. No parking after 6:00 p.m in most truck stops,so Where do we Park ?? Where do you go when you've had too much coffee to meet a deadline delivery ? You pull off at an exit…hit the emergency flashers and water the grass, then get back underneath it and RUN.
A Hard look needs to be taken at Trucking Companies ( 3 that I can name ) that allow drivers after only 3 months of driving for them,to become "Trainers ",in my opinion,an accident waiting to happen. I've had many newbies approach me asking to help adjust the weight on their loads after they were smart enough to scale the load, but were NEVER taught how much each trailer hole,or How much each notch in the 5th wheel, moves a certain amount of weight. These gals and guys are set up for failure from the start. I blame some of the Trucking Schools, but MOST of all,The Trucking Companies for Failure to Teach Safety and common everyday problems faced by a Trucker.
Another Major Gripe and probably the #1 cause for Fatigued Drivers-Detention Pay. Let's say you have a 3:00 appointment at a Grocery Warehouse, and it's frozen food. You get there an hour early in hopes of getting a dock door and some sleep.Nope,it ain't gonna happen…..They will use your portable refrigerated trailer as their own Warehouse and you sit there, and sit there,NOT getting Paid. Then, you have to listen to the CB Radio in case they call you so you can go in to unload, which now creates another problem…It is now up to the Driver to unload, restock any pallets that don't meet their specifications, and get paid peanuts by Your own Company,or Hire a Lumper that gets 3 times more pay than the Driver to unload the trailer. The warehouse gets the majority of the cut, then the lumper. Just two weeks ago,I had a firm 1:00 appointment to pick up at Hostess, yep,Twinkie's and cherry pies. 15 and a half hours later I was Still waiting to get into a dock door. I sent a message to my Fleet manager requesting Detention Pay,and was offered $ 20.00. Now that figures out to 66 cents an hour,a little below the Federal Minimum Wage. I told them to keep it…I didn't want to Bankrupt the Company.Unless you have food and drink in the truck, your stuck. Can't leave,NO roach coach to at least get something hot to eat, Nothing. The Life of Today's Truck Driver.
So,How many of YOUR Congressman get Hush Money from Lobbyists FOR The Trucking Companies ?? YOU would be surprised.
A Special note to Ms.Kinsman…When I started Driving in 1989,there were many Drugs, some people have heard of–L.A Turnarounds-Black Mollies, etc. The ONLY good thing Congress has done to this Day,is make Mandatory and Random Drug Testing a Law. Everything else has gone to hell in a hand basket. As I told You and others,I Don't Trust Myself Anymore on the road. It reminds me of a quote from Clint Eastwood…" A Man's GOT to know his limitations ", and I think I have finally found mine. Thank You Kitten, for letting me state some facts, where to this Day,the majority of Truck Accidents are still caused by 4 wheelers, either texting, reading a paper, putting on make-up,etc.
          It's Time,Thank You.
          Jim

I'm not an old skool truck driver & don't quite understand what happened. I am sorry you had to give up something you love. I was in a different situation & had to give up my biz. As bummed as I was about it, it was something that had to be done. Family 1st, tho. Good luck to you!

As he reviews his release contract, the boss comes in with a much-too-small severance check. "... can't get the flock out of here fast enough," grumbles Rich.

HA !!!….'Sista, you have No idea how close to the truth you are. I remember after walking out of the Dallas Terminal, a song popped into my head–Take this job and Shove IT,I ain't working' here NO More. I actually had a smile on my face and it felt as though a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. Even Big Blue was strolling down the highway in a way we hadn't done since the first time I bought her in 1998. AC/DC blasting on the stereo, and me with a grin a mile wide.
I want to Thank You All for your kind words and encouragement. As Allie D told me…You will find out who your True Friends are,or they weren't Friends in the first place. Plan B for Big Blue is in the works and it's a win-win with and old Friend, myself and Big Blue. She WILL run again. YOU Girls and Guys are The Best.

Love that weightless feeling under those circumstances. Need any help with plan B? Wait, does B stand for Big, Blue or Bruddah?

Congrats, Bro. Best wishes to you, Big Blue and whomever this mysterious Friend is. Leaving something you've done and loved for years can't be easy. Sounds like you've got a plan though and that will make things easier. Hopefully plan B will still let you "Rock On With Your Truck On!"
