Paula Deen might be on track to issue another apology.

After her career in food imploded last year when she admitted to previously using a racial slur, the 67-year-old celebrity chef is trying to slowly rebuild what she's lost.

However, her recent cover story with People magazine is having the opposite effect.

In the article, Deen says she is finding inspiration in what might seem an unusual place given her past troubles.

"I feel like 'embattled' or 'disgraced' will always follow my name," she tells People. "It's like that black football player who recently came out," referring to NFL prospect and former University of Missouri football standout, Michael Sam.

"He (Sam) said, 'I just want to be known as a football player. I don't want to be known as a gay football player.' I know exactly what he's saying."

How can someone who just went through what she did make such an obvious gaffe?!? He probably just wants to be known as a "football player", not a "gay football player" or "black football player". Sheesh, bible thumpin' white southern american cooks these days.....

She's rich. If i was here I'd just raise a finger up and shout the N word to my hearts content.

Even if I were rich, I'd find it rather moronic to do that.

I like Paula and feel this was a witch hunt from 20 years ago. But Paula, you need to keep your comments to your self and just stick to cooking.
Please... you are setting your self up to fail every time you make comments..so just cook

She's not setting herself up to fail, she's generating publicity. You miss out on so much when you miss the meetings. :(

If Paula had good ideas for food preparation or some sort of personality, she would stand a better chance of weathering this storm. Instead, she is sort of like Miley Cirus, a person of little or no talent that managed to gain celebrity status. She should retire from public life and live the high life on the money she has already made. If she sticks to hanging around her friends, she can say any racist thing she likes.

The title of this article is not perceptive or realistically accurate. She has no problem being Paula Deen, or being known as Paula Deen; it is the "disgraced" prefix she doesn't want to carry on. I can understand that.
