We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the weekly Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

Makes sense to me to define them as a person. They are self aware. They have a highly sense of social structure. Using their own intelligence, they are capable of interacting with other species (humans) and in fact they have on numerous times initiated the contact. They use tools, they have leaned and taught other dolphins how to use a tool. They are even employed in the US Navy, where they get a retirement package (something a lot of humans can not claim) – but sadly while employed by the US military they and their dependents are not allowed to shop or browse in a PX.

Please explain what you mean by this.

The Democrat and Republican parties spawned from the same party. It started with minor differences related to slavery and the economy and Federalism. Funny how back then the Democrats supported the idea that less Federal government is better.

I'm over this cold stuff. This time last year we didn't hit below 45 for more than a few overnite hours. This year we are definitely making up the difference. Yesterday's high was 54 degrees at 7am. Today's high will be 53 @ 3pm. Geez.

The allergy king is growing tall but still needs to put on some more pounds. His older brother is now at the enjoyable "why" stage for everything. Why is the garbage truck orange? Why is the fire alarm outside my room? Why did that dog just po0p and his owner picked it up? Why, why, why, why. He is still huge into truck. A red Mack truck was his big Christmas gift so you may have some competition out there in about 15 years if you're still trucking. Mama is a saint for putting up with all of us.

Pop star Justin Bieber was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and drag racing this morning, Miami Beach police Detective Vivian Hernandez said. Further details about the arrest weren't immediately available.

The arrest comes days after sheriff's deputies in Los Angeles County, California, used a felony search warrant to raid Bieber's mansion as they investigated his alleged involvement in a January 9 egg attack on his neighbor's house.

If I was going to name a racing Thoroughbred I'd call him "Polar Vortex." Sort of a catchy name.

  30. Super Bowl Time!

On the first day of school a first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a Seahawks fan.
She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Seahawks fans.
Wanting to impress their teacher, everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl.
The teacher looks at the girl with surprise, 'Janie, why didn't you raise your hand?'
Because I'm not a Seahawks fan,' she replied.
The teacher, still shocked, asked, 'Well, if you are not a Seahawks fan, then who are you a fan of?'
'I am a 49ers fan, and proud of it,' Janie replied.
The teacher could not believe her ears. 'Janie please tell us why you are a 49ers fan?'
"Because my mom is a 49ers fan, and my dad is 49ers fan, so I'm a 49ers fan too!"
"Well," said the teacher in a obviously annoyed tone, 'that is no reason for you to be a 49ers fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mom was an idiot and your dad was a moron, what would you be then?'
"Then," Janie smiled, 'I'd be a Seahawks fan.'
