Wal-Mart is recalling donkey meat in China after it was found to be contaminated with other animal products. Wal-Mart said it was recalling the meat in Jinan, the provincial capital of Shandong. The company apologized to customers and said it would provide refunds. State media said the product - Five Spice Donkey Meat - had been contaminated with fox meat. But in a statement posted on Weibo - China's popular Twitter-style micro blogging site - the company said it had "zero-tolerance" for contamination problems. It said it was stepping up its food safety efforts by introducing routine DNA testing of easily adulterated meat products such as beef, mutton, donkey and venison. What does the fox say? I guess in this case it's, AHHHHH!!!!
Huh. Quite a blow to my American sensibilities... I have never looked at a donkey and considered it to be dinner. I'm guessing it would be a pretty tough meat though. As for getting food at Wal-Mart, I can with some authority state that anything you buy from Wal-Mart's grocery section is just as good or bad as anything you buy at any other grocery chain. Having worked at a distribution warehouse for many years I advise everyone to wash their produce carefully no matter where you purchase it. Packaged non-perishable items such as canned goods should be rinsed or wiped off before opening and if you are worried about contamination or additives in your food, buy from a local farmer for produce and buy a cow from a rancher and have it butchered at a local meat processor/butcher where you can inspect the whole chain of your food. Good luck affording that though. Eating healthy is pretty expensive and unlikely for the majority of people.
I thought "Two Ingredient Taste" was a specialty dish
Hey Wilbuuuur
did you see that story about the china walmart
Donkey...it's what's for dinner
Why I otta
next thing you know they will be recalling dog meat due to kitty litter bits stuck in their teeth
Two great taste that taste great together. . .
How the hell do you accidentally get Fox in the Donkey meat?!!
We are Fair and Balanced…Plus we cover Uranus.
I know people have diverse tastes worldwide, but if you eat donkey, and pretty much anything else, why are you concerned about cross contamination? I'll never eat anything imported from China ever. Bad enough animal of the week, but cadmium contamination in rice and other vegetables to boot.
I look at the origination of all seafood. I don't eat farmed and I don't touch a THING from China.
where do all the vegies you eat come from...fruit, nuts, milk, cheese, chicken, pork, etc, etc etc
my guess is FARMS you idio-t
Not real big on reading comprehension are ya? He's talking about farmed SEAFOOD!
Eat a hamburger, dipsh it.
Do "The People of Walmat, China" have a website featuring their sweat suit wearing, overweight challenged folk?
If you buy food at Walmart you will basically eat anything. Anyone that would trust Walmart with there food is dumb
I prefer Wal-Mart's fox, egg, sausage and fox? That's not got much fox in it.
What meat is in Chinese SPAM?
awesome....LOL
In other news, Donkey Punch is still ok
Yes, Donkey Punch is always o.k., but it can get a little messy.
I would have thought a little fox would add some welcome flavor to the donkey meat.
