A New Jersey waitress who served in the Marine Corps for over two years told CNN Friday she is now getting tips from all over the world after she says a family refused to tip her because she is gay. "I'm sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with what your lifestyle and how you live your life," a family member wrote on the receipt for $93.55 at Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater, New Jersey. "I was offended. I was mad at first, and then I was more so hurt," 22-year-old Dayna Morales told CNN. "It's disrespectful and it's hurtful," she said. "I feel bad for their children because that's how they are going to be raised." She says the trouble began when she approached the table of four - a man, wife and two girls - at around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Morales said that when she introduced herself as Dayna and told them she was going to be their server, the older woman "looked at me and said, 'I thought you were going to say your name is Dan.'" Morales was so upset about the incident, she vented on Facebook, and the group "Have a Gay Day" posted her story on their Facebook page. The response was overwhelming. Saw a story last week that blows a huge hole in her story. Now a story I saw today shows that this server has been a congenital liar for quite some time. Just saying.
I wonder if CNN will re-check this story and, if the new facts pan out, make a statement of retraction. After all, they sure did come down quickly and hard on CBS for its "60 Minutes" report on Benghazi once they found out that source was questionable.

Wow, so I was right...But the heterophobes out there just jumped at the chance to tar and feather this family, all so that another offended party can claim the coveted status of "victim". I swear but Christophobia is rampant these days. Stay classy there, waitress.
The only thing she should be hearing about her life is "Thank you for serving. We appreciate you." It's crap like this that makes me ashamed because I share a religion (sort of?) with bigots like these and keep growing warier of Christians altogether.
Yup, and today we find out it was all a hoax! The people that "didn't leave a tip" showed proof on their credit card receipt and there visa statement shows the total amount charged including an $18 tip. What a crappy thing to do, I hope the waitress loses her job and has to pay back all the tip donations she received.
Saw more stories today that suggests that the server has been lying about a number of things.
So the parents assumed she was gay by how she looked? I feel really sorry for their children... heaven forbid one or both turn out to be tom-boys.
Were there any witnesses to any of this? The family could have easily tipped in cash, and she wrote this on the sales slip to later claim the highly coveted status of the aggrieved victim. This happening so quickly after the recent case with the waiter seems somewhat fishy. Americans seem to love being able to claim victimhood these days.
So you're assertion is this waitress, who served honorably in the Marines for two years, decided suddenly to pick a family of four at random to target for a fake accusation? Also, what "witness" would you be expecting to a hand written note on a receipt?
Timothy McVeigh served honorably as well. What is your point?
Jesus christ, shut up.
That's EXACTLY what happened.
Fact checking FTW
This is what makes me sick to my stomach. Ignorant and bigoted jerks that feel that they have the right to treat people this way is disgusting. I go out to a restaurant to eat, not to tell people how to live their lives. This Marine deserves nothing short of being treated decently, yet these jerks did something that they felt was "righteous", please, they're nothing but morons. Another persons life isn't your business to get in between. Go out and act like you can behave in public, keep politics and opinions to yourself at a work place. Especially if you go out to a restaurant. Servers deal with every kind of person imaginable. These people saw nothing wrong with what they did and that disgusts me more than anything. My father is a marine and he fought for these people's freedoms just like this server has and I'm ashamed that a marine gets treated like this.
Have you ever asked a server their sexual orientation? Is it me or is that strange? My guess is that this is a scam to solicit donations just like the last time this happened
The point is that they profiled her. Plain and simple. They viewed her as someone that was beneath them. I've worked in plenty of restaurants and kitchens and I've had to deal with people who are jerks, bigots and racists. I've seen people ask for new servers because they didn't want to be served by a "woman, man, Hispanic or whatever and those people were promptly removed from the restaurant and asked never to come back. This happens everyday. Most servers fluff it off but when lifestyle comes into it some servers have to vent. Thus this is what happens. I could go on and on but if you want to see how messed up this situation is why don't you go to a local restaurant and ask the staff what they think of this story.
You know absolutely nothing about this "incident" other than what one person claimed happened. To form such a strong opinion based off of that is the very definition of ignorance.
Your rant goes on EPIC FAIL!!!!
But it's OK to boycott Chic-fil-A and try to run them out of buisness because the owner doesn't believe in same sex marrages? They want equal, but special rights. How hypocritical!
Not really. The owner of Chic fil A decided to make very public political statements. He wasn't just quietly doing his job when someone challenged his opinion. He made the first move when he announced to the world his opinion regarding marriage. In essence he was asking for a big public reaction and he got it. The profiled server on the other hand was quietly doing her job when she was targeted by a family of bigots. They are completely different situations.
