Pssst! Got a sec to chat? We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here. You can always find it from the link in the left rail, or by bookmarking http://eatocracy.cnn.com/category/buzz/coffee-klatsch/. Any chance we can get a roll call of when Los Flamenon birthdays occur? No reason... |

I'm Bummed....Lost one of the Greatest NFL Coaches last night. Bum Phillips passed away at age 90. I remember watching "Luv 'Ya Blue " back in the late 70's,early 80's. He was a good man with a realistic look at life and the game of Football. RIP Coach.
RIP indeed. Love the quote about why he took his wife with him on away games. "She was too ugly to kiss goodbye". Guess he always told it like it was.
I've always liked Wade Phillips, too. Even when he was coaching the Cowpukes. Seems like a nice family.
Thanks to you both..BUM was a Man of Integrity and Family. He would host Pizza and Beer parties for the team....just to keep them together as a Team...or a Family. Wade learned from this....tho Jerrah,NEVER did. I learned many things from this Man.....As well as Tom Landry. Football minds are complicated, but it always comes down to Team and Family. A Life Lesson We should ALL Learn. Have a Great Weekend My Friends.
Agreed. I see a lot of these same characteristics in Pete Carroll. The man treats his team like family, and they in turn will do anything for him.
Man, we need like buttons around here
I'm wearing mine.
"Any chance we can get a roll call of when Los Flamenon birthdays occur?" May 26th. Year unknown.
July, 23. 'Twas a Tuesday, approx 12:29 pm
Took us a week to see that up there, lol
We're real observant sometimes lol. BTW, see last weeks Klatsch re: your post about Wynton.
Ha. Didn't see that. Replied.
Seen 'em. They came to my hometown Performing Arts Center several years ago. I also wanted to play trombone at first, but in 4th grade of course my arm was too short to reach 7th position. The music store owner, not wanting to lose a sale, grabbed a trumpet off the wall and said "Here-try this". The rest, as they say, is history.
I'm jealy. I looked a few months ago in a pawn shop and only saw trumpets. Bitches, giving up your horn. No trombones, though. Hard to find under 1k
For this info-Our Demands must be met by KAT & SLT-an Eatocracy cutting Board must be sent to JBJingles on her Birthday. She has been begging and pleading for this item for a number of years.

Damn good game last night. Hawks finally beat the Cardinals in their house.
A lot of fans on the Niners forums are getting pissy about the hawks, lol

Your word is my command Mi'lady.
See what I did there?
Good morning all, and Happy Friday!
Actually woke to snow today. Only two inches (with regrets to AleeD) and we are supposed to hit sixty tomorrow. Typical October in Colorado...
Anyone have good weekend plans?
If everything is manipulated to everyone's satisfaction, two inches is better than none. ~_~
Well, if it is any consolation Darlin', the mountains are looking at nine to ten...;)
~_~ Mmmm, yes. That's more lick it. ~_~
What did I say wrong in the last post that angered the Modbot gods?
It was the word following "Dad's"...the modbots have dirty minds and look for given letter combinations. AleeD keeps the full, annotated list. Some pretty funny stuff there...
Happy Friday, everyone!! This day is a bit of a bummer because I would have been getting on the plane to spend the next few days with my bro, but Dad's circumstances have forced me to cancel the trip. We had good plans, football Sunday night, football Monday night, Jimmy Buffett concert Tuesday night, but alas.....
Anyone doing anything fun this weekend so I can live vicariously through you?
And I had found a GREAT place for lunch, that we will have to hit the next time you are out here...
i had to record the Ellen show yesterday just to see Jimmy perform, and I never do that!!
Which songs did he do, or have you watched yet?
Margaritaville and Boat Songs.
MAYDAY,MAYDAY-Houston,We have a Problem. Recent Comments is Down, I Repeat...Recent Comments is Down. GPS coordinates=3/4 clicks down the right side column-Been Down since yesterday afternoon. Please Repair.

Hiiiiii. I'm in New Orleans in an alligator's belly.
The "recent comments" list is gone. Why? The heading is still there, but das list ist kaput.

Good morning all, and Happy Thursday.
How's everyone doing today?
Doing pretty good so far. Knew it was going to be a special day when I tried to park in a parking spot close to the building only to find that there was a scooter parked in there. This usually wouldn't be a problem except there's one parking spot they marked up RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING for motorcycle/scooter parking and such which only had one scooter parked there out of the 8 or 10 spots they have.
Oh well, at least I have Hard Knocks to look forward to tonight.
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better – Senator Barack Obama
For all of those that can hear my voice...STAND UP, That's right, STAND UP, walk over to your window, open it and SCREAM...I'M MAD AS HELL AND I WON'T TAKE IT ANYMORE !!

Name a country that doesn't have this issue.
ZombieLand--because there are No Vegans or Tree Huggers allowed.

Another country we built up from nothing, but has now far surpassed us.
Try a hundred years of failed leadership and lack of fiscal responsibility from both houses of congress and the Treasury Department.
Once upon a time our nation was gaining wealth annually at such a rate that the "government" (read Treasury) decided that the nation could spend more than what it makes in a year and the true debt from that spending would be reduced by inflation (devaluation of currency and debt). It's sort of like a debt/income pyramid scheme. This model hasn't worked at least since the sixties.
Check this Consumer Price Index Inflation calculator to see what our leadership is doing to us, the US nation.
http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl?cost1=1.00&year1=2010&year2=2013
Yet our government as a whole has not done one rational thing to change anything for the better.
What makes me really happy is seeing hundreds of dollars a month going to Medicare out of my paycheck. Since I was 14. I get vouchers if I live that long. I also like seeing customers come in having Medicare that have lived here for 6 years, never having paid a dime into it along with a a social security check. I also pay hundreds of dollars into that a month.
I'll see vouchers and 70% of social security "entitlement" in my retirement along with "I'm sorry" letters from our government.
Can't wait. Seriously thinking of moving overseas by the time I'm 50

Morning everyone! Looking forward to tomorrow for some much needed stress relief. How is everyone doing during the mid-week?
Wellll...........since you asked. My store (large auto parts store) is in the first week of a three week remodel. To say upside down would be an understatement.
"What's going on tomorrow that will bring you relief from your stress?" she asked naively.
I'm heading over to the local laser tag joint (www.indoorwar.com) to have some fun. This is doubled by the fact that they moved this week's Ladies Night to Thursday, so I'm expecting a big turnout. It's always more fun with more people!
Off work today!!
Cause I have to work Saturday. =(
So, laying in bed all day watching zombie movies as it pours outside
Good morning, everyone. For a Wednesday this isn't a bad calendar day for me for a change.
I saw an advertisement for a local store this morning that I just had to share here. It was for Porterhouse steak, on sale, but it was the description that made me laugh about their creativity "A nice sirloin flavor of the NY Strip on one side and the tenderness of the Filet Mignon on the other."
I'm a fairly new foodie, but I didn't know that Porterhouse, sirloin, NY strip and flamenons all came from the same steak....if I'm wrong, please advise. Just seemed funny to me.
Those two are from different muscle sets and therefore not from the same steak.
Wikipedia could explain this
My buddy Alton Brown can learn 'ya best. For just the facts, start watching at 4 minutes.

For a novel way to cook a steak watch his Porterhouse Perfection episode.
Wanted to get the word out about an exciting fundraiser this week..Thursday, October 17 in Montclair–Three Superstars–Garrett Oliver, Robert Sinskey, & Steve Matthiasson pairing with food made by CulinAriane's Ariane Duarte. And also wanted to initiate a lively discussion...what pairs better with food–beer or wine?

Charlie Hunnam has been dismissed to play the role of Christian Grey, in the upcoming film "Fifty Shades of Grey". When asked for possible replacements, Universal Studios spokeswoman indicated "We are now looking at several individuals, all of whom we believe would do superlatively as Christian Grey, including Chris Brown, Ken Jeong, Al Roker and John Goodman"
You may now return to your normally scheduled Eatocracy...
Question: Why is Chris Hemsworth not auditioning for this role?
Answer: He's still too Thor!
Good morning all. I hope all are doing well so far this week.
Sadly, some members of our society should be put down. Immediately.

I don't even want to read that. =(
Oh. Oh ho ho. Jdizzle just made awesome clam chowder. Be jelly. Was afraid the cilantro in my fridge would go bad, so chopped some up and placed into said dish. My god. Of course, I'm a big cilantro fan.

This is a TEST, This is ONLY a TEST. If this had been a REAL Emergency, You would have been instructed to order pizza, make sure you sign up for Obamacare, and clog up the Internets with worthless Jibber Jabber. Nothing to see here people, Please move along.
So I think you know which way I voted on the other thread.....Though You got an automatic 10+ points for wearing the Vintage Dress and Apron.
Many years ago I was delivering a load of extruded aluminum to a place in Small Town Missouri ( with a nod to JBJ's Home State),and since the fork lift was broken down,I had about a six hour wait. So,I was off to site see and ran across a small shop called Used Everything. Peeking my head in the door,it was a combination General Store,Antique Shop and Town Hall, all in one. I like these kinda places 'cuz treasures can be found around every corner. One thing caught my eye....a 1950's Sunbeam Mixmaster. My Mother had one ( Bless her Soul ) with white frosted bowls and I always thought that was standard for the time.......Yet this particular mixer had Lime Green Frosted Bowls with it. Bingo, I grabbed it and went to the front counter to check the price. An older Lady smiled and said You found it didn't 'ya? She then explained to me that SunBeam made 3 different colored bowls when it was first introduced....White,Lime Green and Blue. To this day I have never seen one with Blue frosted bowls. She made sure to plug it in to prove it worked and I snagged it for $20.00. To this day during the Holiday's I use them both, with fond memories. PIE Rules,no matter what everyone else says.
Just powered through a week containing 4 days of late night labs. Needless to say, I've learned both the pros and cons of naps in the process. Luckily, this week is looking a lot better with some cool stuff happening later in the week and during the weekend.
What's everyone up to?
Headed to New Orleans later this week, but am doing that super-panicked, trying to get my ducks in a row thing before I leave. It almost feels like a vacation creates as much stress as it is supposed to alleviate, but I'm trying to stem that. Got a calming method you like to employ, anyone?
Lists. I make a lot of lists before I go somewhere....what to pack, what needs to be done at home before I go, what needs to be done for work before I go, and on...works for me.
I concur. Lists – and whiskey – make everything easier.
Listening to music always helps! Just be careful you don't listen to music that stresses you out in the process of listening to it.
Simple.....Turn OFF the cell phone....Relax on the couch with your favorite Whippet draped across your lap while hoisting a few Hurricane drinks...in your favorite glass from previous trips. Your mind is now focused upon the tasks at hand.....
Don't forget Willa Mae's Scotch House and arrive before 11:00 a.m. for the BEST Fried Chicken in NOLA. Also, check out the Voodoo Lady, she will get you back into shape. Watch that bottom step on the cable car....Face Plant. Enjoy the trip.
I was just at a conference where folks from Willie Mae's were serving fried chicken. I am considering starting a religion to it.
Make an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done and then do the last thing on that list.
So far, just trying to get my units together for shipping. Lots to coordinate: plastic pieces, strapping, blades. It's all gotta go.
Happy Monday, unless you're a NY football fan, that is. Oh well, Giants are having a perfect season...perfectly awful.
Yesterday when I was in the car, XM radio on, and a new artist was announced....no joke, the artist's name is ALI DEE.
I couldn't believe my eyes and had to check several times...So, our own AleeD has had her name taken and modified!!!
Have a good week, all.
HOW 'Bout Those COWBOYS ?????? :))
How 'bout those Seahawks!!??
How about them Niners?!
Let's talk undefeated, as in the Broncos or Avalanche...
Buzzkill........
You seen Irsay's tweets from last night. I swear the guy had to be drinking...
I think Manning's going to light it up against the Colts for some reason. Unless the young one tries to out perform. Should be a good game.
Denver's Defense is ranked 23, Colts at 14, I believe.
I whipped out the Big Salami on nationwide TV last night. MWAhahahahahahaha !!!
~_~ I'm sorry I missed that. ~_~ Oh you mean that grand slam-i? Yeah, he's one powerful ball poker, fo' sho'.
