Pssst! Got a sec to chat?

We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.
Consider the weekly Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

You can always find it from the link in the left rail, or by bookmarking http://eatocracy.cnn.com/category/buzz/coffee-klatsch/.

Because Yours truly is a trumpet player of many years (and I'm good at it), and Wynton came to our high school (in Alaska, no less) and played.

Think it was 1996 when he came up. He made a joke about little planes. Band teacher pretty much forced the brass section to go. We had to pay. Imagine asking my dad (the tight wad) for money to go. Top 3 night of my life my life that didn't involve women.

No way! Seriously? I've played since 4th grade (not gonna tell you how long ago that was). I've always loved Wyntons' smooth grooves. My two highlight nights (without women) were seeing Doc Severensen in high school, and yes the trumpet section had to go and we had too pay. The other was Maynard Ferguson (RIP). Damn that man had incredible range. Afraid I just play for myself now, but it's a great way to unwind. BTW-the music notes make sense now. :) Play on!

I started in 5th grade. I actually signed up for percussion first, but didn't know what it was so I changed it to trumpet. lol

Also meant to say there's just something about the sound of a horn in raw brass. Maybe why I like his music so much....

    October 8, 2013 at 10:32 am |
    • RichardHead@TWO

TWOOOOOOOOOOO- How 'ya been doing? Well, You asked so here's my take on it--This will only pizz off the people in VA. and DC,plus giving Truckers a worse image than we have now. Besides...the speed limit up there around the loop is 50 mph and every time I've been through, your lucky if you can get up to 25 mph during peak hours. It will not have an impact. Now if these guys had a Brain....and there are some that don't...Think about a complete 3 day Shutdown, say from Monday through Weds...That means NO pick ups...No deliveries,NADA. Think of it this way, most grocery stores have a 3 day supply of food on their shelves and in the back room. The same goes for Food Distribution Centers. So let's say Our Lovely Fearless Leader SLT can't get her Cereal ? Or that she has a secret stash of cereal,But NO Milk. Even worse-What if JBJ couldn't get her Toilet Paper ? Yep, There would be HELL to pay and THIS would open the eyes of Congress and the president. On the Bright side--there would be NO Clown Costumes for sale at Halloween. :))

Truth? Truth!? You can't handle the truth.
Its time the Republicans took back their party by fighting terrorism and eject all the teahadists. Holding a law hostage to get the way of a minority is political terrorism. A minority – The Affordable Health Care Act was passed in to law by a majority. Its unprecedented. Accepting this act as politics puts every law passed by congress in the same jeopardy. If this plot works, the next law to be held hostage is the ERA. Women, go back to your kitchens, bare foot and pregnant like a good little subversive, just like the good book says...
