Pssst! Got a sec to chat? We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here. You can always find it from the link in the left rail, or by bookmarking http://eatocracy.cnn.com/category/buzz/coffee-klatsch/. If things start to heat back up over the summer, we'll go daily again. Personally, we've really enjoyed the flow of conversation this past couple of weeks, because conversations have been able to continue for people who don't visit every day – but it's a work in progress and we're always listening. Your weekend went how? |

Fish on in the NFL thread?
'Twould appear that way....
Good morning all, and Happy Friday!
As luck (and a lightning delay) would have it, I had an impromptu dinner last night, and walked in the house about two minutes into the game. Thought I was going to miss more. I think this is a sign of the season to come.
And dinner was unbelievable:

Looks awesome
I can't find oysters on the half shell around here to save my life. Probably have to go to Minneapolis.
Been to Minneapolis once. Being downtown is like working in one4 huge mall. It is weird to ask for directions and be given not a series of streets, but rather skywalks.
Minneapolis = hamster trail in the sky
T-G-I+F I finished my iReport on the my Hatch chile adventure last weekend...
http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1032156
Unfortunately, formatting got messed up when I tried to edit it and I can't get the paragraph breaks back in, grrr! And I posted some of the pics, but I could not edit those to swap a few out.
Oh well, enjoy!
Nice report.
thanks, I'm going to try to get it fixed tonight so it's easier to read...keep getting a "unexpected error" message when I try to update it and put the paragraphs breaks in.
Paging Kat Kinsman, paging Ms. Kat Kinsman...
Awesome report JBJ. I have recently been putting Poblanos on the grill and now I want to try a Hatch. Might be tough here on the east coast as they look fairly regional. Maybe RH can drop some off with his travels around the country.
Thanks I had a great time doing this and thrilled to go to the chile roasting. My food geekness is showing.
Try http://www.melissas.com/ they have a roasting schedule.
I believe there are some dates coming up in MD and VA...
Very cool. Who knew? THANKS!
I hope you can make it to one of these, the people at the event were super duper nice and helpful.
Hey Bro....I highly recommend you go to one of the roastings in MD if you can swing it. Fresh roasted are the BEST and cheapest way to get them. Prices on the internets range from $19.95 for 5lbs to $92.00 for frozen-not sure how many lbs you get,but they are packed in 2.5 lbs. packages. Make Cowboy Burgers....chopped Hatch chilis with an 80-20 ground chuck plus your favorite cheese. Excellent Eating.
@JBJ-Thanks for the Shoutout.....tho we both realize Odie did ALL the work.:))
Will do my best and report on Monday. Very interested to try.
Yeah, Odie was a big help, NOT! You have down your job Kimo Sabre in spreading the Hatch gospel and we are better for it. ;)
A wonderful article. Thanks for sharing. I loves me some quiche and you hatch rendition has my mouth watering. The only thing I can think of to make it better is BACON.
I really enjoyed your article tittled "A Simple Life in Simpler Times ". Keep it up.
Thanks Weeds! I enjoyed doing them and my granny was very special to me. She lived a long life and I have a picture when my daughter was born of all five generations of women! She never even rode in a car until her 80's when she had to go to a hospital once...
Oh and the quiche had some sausage in it to appease hubs! ;) So, yes, bacon would work too!
I Luv Snauseges, without the Foo-Foo.
Good morning, and what a game last night!!! Well done, Broncos!!
Edgar Allan Poe must be rolling over in his grave from the stampede last night. Well done!
Manning and Welker single-handedly have pretty much won some fantasy match-ups already this weekend. Including edging me for quite a few points already in one leage.
And LOL @ Flacco's record contract. Dude couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night.
AleeD® pushed it all the up to here.
Grrrr. Find your own moniker.
It's not syndicated. don't need your monkey

Welcome back stranger! How and where have you been?
Been mostly absent due to a move! Now living in Portland. Good move for me, in every way. Promotion, amazing city life... Can't complain!
They also have a REALLY good marathon, although why they planned the only hill for miles 15 THROUGH 17 is freakin beyond me. Nice course though.
Welcome back, and we look forward to hearing about life's new chapter...
Hey! To answer your question, turn around and let me check the straps. ~_~
Oh, jeez, you would go there, wouldn't you... Well played, m'dear... Well played.
Good morning. Today's already better than expected, my schedule had 5 meetings when I signed on, now its down to only 1 left...woo hoo.
Have a great day, all.
I am running out of words to describe how busy work is right now...*sigh* No time to stop by and say halo, so I'll say it now. Howdy, hello, Buenos dias.
Grrrr. Project #1 meeting yesterday. Give the people what they want? Balderdash! Give them what they want and they just want to know why you didn't give them something else. Grrrr. It's obvious from yesterday's meeting that the people just aren't happy unless they're biotching. Fuque 'em. Just fuque 'em all.
I am Very proud of you for Mastering the foreign Slang of German yesterday and also Franch today. Hooked on Phonics is remarkable-no matter what language.
Aw, thankee kahndlee, Suh. It's amazing how eloquent one can become when one is viciously peeved. :) how's tings witchoo?
Things are picking up--was in Wenatchee,WA yesterday to pick up fresh apples and headed to Philly for a Saturday delivery. Big Blue is ready to climb the Mountains and run through the rivers and the Dales.
Wenatchee!?? Did you pass by Moses Lake??
I worked with a gal at Wells Fargo in Alaska that retired there a few years ago.
Just over the pass from me in Burlington.
A word I've come to hate: REQUIREMENTS.
Requirements is such a rubbery word, subject to interpretation, change, based on intrinsic nuances and can be based more on emotion than a need. Break it down to needs and wants.
Howdy ho from 106 degree Laughlin, Nevada. Supposed to get to 108 in the next couple of days.
Born in Vegas and grew up in Phoenix, so this is nice and normal from my point of view!
Cheers!
anyone interested in this if we started a group for the football season?
http://washingtonpost.profootball.upickem.net/
I probably would.
Convicted kidnapper Ariel Castro was found dead in his cell late Tuesday night. Castro was supposed to serve life plus 1,000 years, but apparently found a loophole.
More noose on this as it develops.
I c wut u did there
The taxpayers thank you for your contribution to their savings. Fü¢kér
Moderation, moderation. Cha-cha-cha! BLAAAAHHHH!
Alright gang its football time and over the past few years there has been some rivalry among the group here. Thought we could take this off the field to a more competitive (no money) site for the weekly games. Check out the Washington Post "Post Pics" and if there is a decent enough sized group, we could start a group on there. Check out the site below. Thoughts?
http://washingtonpost.profootball.upickem.net/
Good morning. I admit it doesn't make me a very good person, but I was glad to see that Ariel Castro is no longer among the living, at least there won't be any further expense in keeping him alive in prison.
He's just a swingin'......
Ok, now THAT's funny...
Amen on all counts.
And for those who did not catch the John Anderson reference, see attached...When this song came out circa 1980 or so, it gave me a twenty year or so dislike for country music...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07_rnlBezQg
today its obvious. all the country music stars are want to be rock'n roll wanna be stars. country music died decades ago. And western, awe, snakes are in the cotton. shoot – the two step is about all that is left of that.
please, give me a recent band name that REALLY plays western. because thatssss my music
Key & Peele?
http://youtu.be/5LGEiIL1__s
Boyaaaa on the Key and Peele. Looking forward to this starting mid Sept.
The duck thread is classic.
All drugs have two names, a trade name and generic name.
Example, the trade name is Tylenol and its generic name is Acetaminophen.. Aleve is also called Naproxen.
Amoxil is also called Amoxicillin and Advil is also called Ibuprofen.
The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra.
After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin.
Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
Pfizer Corp announced today that Viagra will soon be available in liquid form, and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer..
It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one.
Obviously we can no longer call this a soft drink, and it gives new meaning to the names of 'cocktails', 'highballs' and just a good old-fashioned 'stiff drink'.
Pepsi will market the new concoction by the name of: MOUNT & DO.
Thought for the day: There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research.
This means that by 2020, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.
Damn you JD! My boss wants to know what the hell I'm laughing at....
Good morning! I hope everyone had a good weekend, our weather wasn't great, but I was busy running around so didn't have time to sit down anyway!
Anything new?
"Look, I can prove my socket is bigger than yours," she said.
Oh ... wait....
RH – You might wanna look at the burger post.
Thanks Kitten, and please Thank KK too. Grill ON Ladies and enjoy your Holiday.
Spatula salute!
Spatula Salute! ............. "LIKE!"
Howdy Ho to all! Wish I had something incredible to post but, thankfully, life is at a placid state.
Sometimes placid is a good place to be...
Look, she's naive...she'll never understand why having Spaulding on the punting brackets will run her $2K...
First? Hopefully you all are not in labor on Labor Day?? Hatch Day Three continues, but I've discovered these little gems are much hotter than I expected...hmmm.
I knew the TP would come in Handy.......:))
Ha ha. I can't eat some of this! I found out the canned ones I bought were hotter than the fresh and they said 'mild'!! Mixed in the quiche is just great. Turkey burgers later going to try again... :)
God bless the chile
