(Via WAFB) Americans have been looking for healthier alternatives to red meat for years. Sometime, those alternatives become popular, like bison and ostrich. But would you sink your teeth into a rodent known to be a major pest around the world? Maybe not, but one Louisiana man thinks your dog would. According to the Marsh Dog website, nutria meat has more protein and less fat than chicken or turkey, and contains no artificial hormones. But does it taste good? Watch the above video to see one reporter try a nutria jerky that’s “safe for humans,” and learn more about nutria meat. Then let us know below if you would give nutria meat a try. Previously: |

While we're at it, let's throw some bugs in too. My dogs and cats loved spiders, flies, and moths.
My cats have sometimes been known to eat mice, so I don't see why not feed them nutria if it is available. Would I try it? I've tried most everything once (maybe not mice, but I've eaten squirrel, which is really quite good), so why not, at least once.
Call it a water squirrel and all the good 'ol boys will be out hunting them critters
Who would eat rodent meat???
I mean like the rabbit I eat??
Or the squirrel's that almost every show of duck hunters show eating some?
Next thing you know you'll want to eat BOVINE meat!!!!!
Yuck :-(
Just don't tell him it's rodent meat. If he finds out that he's supposed to kill/eat a pest he will ignore it. If it's something I want him to avoid it becomes irresistable!
Rodent meat! My dog would never touch that. He prefers eating his own feces.
Coprophagia FTW!!!
haha
