Pssst! Got a sec to chat?

We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

Hello! I apologize if I'm late on this, but that's my life. I was catching up on the Daily Show, because I just discovered it's on at 7:30pm, and low and behold there was a clip from CNN with Kat in it!!! (talking about horsemeat) but there she was! It made me realize how much I miss checking in here, so I will try to do so more often!
In other news, since I started my new job in November, I have found the 9-5 suffocating. So, I decided I need to find a way to do something that involves food, because that's what makes me happy. I will be trying to figure all that out! For now I will continue plugging away and trying to save some money so I can leave the 9-5 behind!

I wonder if she knows she was on The Daily Show. I usually watch that and Colbert Report religiously, but have been playing a lot of video games lately and not watching much TV.

Ex-NGF shows her true colors (which I had already subtly observed over the course of our relationship) this morning.

I get an e-mail this morning from her (we work for the same company). I informed her of an e-mail I had received recently from the local soccer organization stating we were automatically assigned to the same teams as coaches from last year. Her 5 year old was a player of mine.

She "asked" me to volunteer for another team. I seemed to notice a veiled threat in between the lines. I told her that her discomfort was not my problem and to basically mind her own business. She can get her kid on another team if she was worried about it.

I got response from her saying I forced her hand and she would be getting a restraining order and I wouldn't be able to coach any team. I said, Wow. Fine, I'll volunteer for another team. I then told her she is truly a hateful person and I hope she finds peace.

I experienced some her nastiness during some arguments in the past. I'm not surprised she would try and stoop this low. Anger management obviously hasn't helped her. People suck.

I know you don't know me, but it really sounds like you did the right thing by ending that relationship. If I were you, I'd save those emails, just in case she follows through with her threat. Don't feel alone, either. I'll bet we've all had some sort of "whacky" relationship in our pasts, too. Live and learn, as they say. Don't let her get you down, either. Not worth the waste of your time. Good day to you!

Very sorry to hear. I know that kids and coaches can bond and that can be a pretty significant relationship, but I think you are wise to find another team, especially if a restraining order happens, which will inevitably complicate the work situation.

      Best with all of this...

We don't work at the same location.

This is a giant d!ck move, though.

She sounds classy. Don't let her take advantage of you, but ignoring her will likely be your best bet in the long run. Sorry you're dealing with this, it can't be fun.

Been a while, I hope everyone is alright. SirB is right. Ignore her and write her off, Jdizz. I wonder what JJ thinks about Harrison Ford being in the new Star Wars movie?

Good morning all from a cold and snowy MHC. We got 4-6" last night and it is sheer delight watching our pompous director freak out since he has to make the trek to the airport in this. (he's not from an area that gets snow). hee hee...

Try buzz word bingo with another coworker during meetings. "where the rubber meets the road" and " low hanging fruit" are timeless classics that just can't seem to go away.

The road map to my low hanging fruits gets longer when I have less synergy.

But at the end of the day, if we play as a team, and think outside the box, we'll all get on the same page to achieve market driven, customer-focused results that take us to the next level.

Dang, but I HATED being management...

Apparently word gets around. Said directions were airbrushed on plywood – plain as day. Guess I made an impression. ~_~ Safe word? We don't need anything like that 'round here. You're always safe in my hands, Turth. All 6 to 12 inches of you ... r snow.

SB, that's the motto in the dungeon: "Wish in one hand – your choice in the other." It usually ends up as the more, um, pleasant option. Failing that, there's always, "Mean people spit, nice people (what kind of bird was that ?)"

Niiiiice selections. Thank the corporate gods our veep knows his shizit and doesn't need to rely on buzz words to make a point. He has zero patience for corporate jargon. People who talk like that somehow manage to make it to the bottom of my respect list.

Good morning class! Today we will be learning how to be productive between meetings. Four of them to be Ed Zack Lee. Any hints or help as the class progresses, will be greatly appreciated.

Are these laptops closed meetings or are they open? I rely on solitaire when I'm on endless meetings and need to concentrate just enough so I can't multi-task on email and stuff.

      February 21, 2013 at 9:07 am |
    • AleeD®@Mary S

This is an old school, manufacturing company. No laptops in meetings and turn off your cell phones – unless there's a conference call factored in.

Good morning folks! I have it so good. My boss, who loves to ski, has a house in Colorado. He leaves here on Dec 1, and I don't see him again until April. That alone makes me appreciate winter.
My take on the picture: Oh good, I've been hired at Walmart as a greeter. My prayers have been answered.
