Congratulations to the winner of The Next Food Network Star - who just happens to be no stranger to Eatocracy readers.

Spoilers after the jump.

When we met Justin Warner on the street at the 2010 Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, he was dressed as the pope and working as a captain at The Modern restaurant in New York City. We knew even then that he was bound for stardom.

We nabbed him at the scene to throw down with the Raja of Riesling, Hearth and Terroir Wine Bar's Paul Grieco. Touting the pomp of the Pontiff was The Modern's Belinda Chang and Justin Warner.

Then we asked him to stop on by Eatocracy HQ and slide into guise as JDollasign.

Five Gastro-Rap Anthems: Justin Warner

He's since moved on from The Modern to open up Do Or Dine, an experimental, whimsical, and plain old delicious restaurant in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn with a few partners, and as part of his Star prize, he'll be filming a new show "Rebel with a Culinary Cause" for the Food Network.

We always knew Justin was a star. Now it's just part of his title.

Justin may be a nice guy and a good cook and I do congratulate him for his work effort, but from a different perspective I found him to be snotty, a copycat of Alton and frankly the lipstick just turns me off. Also take issue with Food Network as I had a REALLY hard time voting via computer-my votes wouldn't register.

Have been a fan of his since his days at The Modern - he could explain each dish with incredible accuracy and flair, it's great to see him get his due.

He was my pick from the start! Does anyone know when his show will air? That's so cool that Kat knows him! And can confirm those lips do look like that, lol! I love his unique point of view. We don't need more of the same old, same old.

I'm a fan of shows like Good Eats, Food Detectives and Foodography so Justin's "Rebel with a Culinary Cause" struck me as being right up my alley. I'm also one to play with my food and come up with less than conventional ingredient combinations (strawberries dipped in soy sauce, anyone?) so I regard Justin as a kindred spirit. I look forward to his show, especially with Alton Brown producing.

He deserved to win – so different – his deconstructed caesar salad to me was amazing (who does that, takes and gelees the dressing???).. Can't wait to watch..

He does not wear lip gloss or lipstick–his lips are naturally that color. That was covered in the first episode this season. I was rooting for him to win (despite being distracted by his lips, LOL) because he is Alton Brown's spiritual successor–very cerebral and geeky. He makes the most unbelievable, fascinating food that no one else could conceive of cooking. His show should be very interesting–at least to food geeks like me who loved Good Eats!

I beg to differ with you...on the 2nd to last episode, his lips were very red and glossy not like in the picture above which looks more natural. There were several episodes with lipstick or lip gloss. To each his own, it was a distraction for me, but I liked his style and POV although I probably won't make any of the dishes he does, not my style.

Justin is a friend of mine. And yup - they actually just look like that. Extra fun fact - he was also in the National Spelling Bee like I was: http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/31/living/spelling-bee-experience/index.html

I didn't mean anything bad by that, my husband and I both really enjoyed watching him and were rooting for him to win, although I questioned the demographics for his show (because I'm old...LOL). I bet he's a kick to be around and seems super smart, a perfect match up with Alton! Like I said, I will probably watch the show, but also probably not make the food...

He's such a surprise of a human being. I texted him last night to congratulate him and beg him to please stay weird.

Dang gum right, stay weird. I can't stand "straight-laced people" with no sense of sarcasm. So boring.

I hope he does stay "weird", it's part of his charm! I love making creative (looking, not so much ingrediant wise) foods, so who knows, maybe I will venture out and try something he comes up with. He's entertaining for sure and we are looking forward to the show.

I will not be watching his show! I dont' care to watch a man wearing lipstick and makeup. He brought nothing to the show. This cast was the worst ever!

Who...? I'll watch Melissa's show just to purge what I ate earlier in the day. NOT. This channel has totally gotten away from it's original intent and has gone reality. A lot of the hosts are just a bunch of arrogant, pompus asses.

What exactly is the angle for his show? All I know about him is that he seems to wear a lot of lipstick or gloss. I would have watched the show about family style dining.

    • Annia

What? He's wearing lipstick? Naaah, I thought his lips are just naturally red. There's a woman here who has a son that has lips as red as can be. Whenever I see him I'd say to him how envy I am of him. I wish I would never have to wear lipstick at all, but then my mother would ask me, " Why are you so pale. Are you sick or something?" Anyway, congrats to him. I think he has the goods to back him up & he seems really quick witted. I like Marti as well. Yvan just didn't seem genuine to me. He's cute, but not geniune enough for me to want to watch him. The other one is just too "manly" for me. I don't care for any female to try to act like a male and vice versa. It's a turn off.

it's not lipstick – he really likes fruit punch (SNARK) -- UGH – show has most definitely "jumped the shark" please stop the carnage

A pompous arrogant ass. Perfect to host yet another Food Network game show.

I'm done with FN. They have nothing to do with cooking anymore. Or even food.

How far right dose the Food Network need to swing to capture a audience ? I cannot see myself watching his show more than once just to see how far he has managed to damage the reputation of a Network that I have valued sense it's opening. He would have been fine on the Bravo Station. But if I want to see a clown, I'll go to a circus.

You obviously no absolutely nothing about Justin or his cooking! He is the absolute opposite of arrogance and has more cooking skills and abilities than you apparently have brains!

      • g-kelley

Why do I need to know any thing about him at all ! I watched 10 weeks of his antics and cooking gimmicks. I don't need to cozy up to him or look deep into his eyes to form a option ! His new wave style has no interest to me that's why I didn't vote for him period. The cooking channel already has a couple of spike haired rebels on staff now, enough already. If I want weired I'll watch reality shows on the Bravo Channel. It's nothing personal. Not that I can say that about how you take it and the insults you resort to.
