We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

OK....soooooo, I contact SirB via e-mail concerning how Momma's doing with the impending birth of Lil' Richard...and Mamma's got a Brand New Bag. On Monday no less....this really sucks, since James Brown and Lil' Richard were both excellent Entertainers. Of course,SirB has not figured in the time difference of CDT and Yankee time. I could still win....but again,I shall T-Bow to the 49-er's and my Brother Jdizzle.

Oh dear, my husband has torched a fry pan & deployed fire extinguisher everywhere. There goes dinner. And no, I'm not kidding..lol. I went to the store for salsa & came home to the stench of burned food and fans blowing air out. Maybe its still edible, just add lots of salsa?? Lol

hubby came close to this when we were dating, he came over the make dinner while I was at zumba. Got home, took shower, got out to the smell of something burning. Turns out he didn't realize how quickly garlic burns, esp when set to high and no oil in the pan...

      July 22, 2012 at 8:37 pm |
      • angrybabykitty

@JainaJade- I did chuckle a little bit reading that :) . My husband admitted he got too engrossed in his WWII DVDs & forgot all about the food. He blew up a microwave the day before Thanksgiving because he put a prebaked pie he bought in there still in the metal pan. He had never cooked aside from boxed shells & cheese before we got married. He lived off take out. Is your husband better at cooking now?

It's pretty interesting. In high school our business law class went to observe a DUI trial that lasted all day. We watched Jury selection, etc. Pretty interesting, and comical at times. One guy who was obviously trying to get out of jury duty said he saw nothing wrong with drinking and driving and does it all the time himself. He was dismissed as a potential juror. I'm sure he made it to work on time that morning, LOL. Some people just can't afford to miss work, no PTO and stuff

Our local library used to share the same building with a court. Library staff frequently had to deal with finding weapons in the rest room that didn't make it through x-ray, and sometimes shackled prisoners being marched to the rest room through a room full of children attending a program. The judge also expressed his dilemma of trying to sentence a criminal to 20 years while listening to a group of children singing Jingle Bells on the other side of the wall.

In lighter news, it appears Lil Biddle #2 is arriving very soon. Mrs Biddle's fluid levels are slowly reducing (which is normal) and they may induce either tomorrow or Monday. Will keep everyone posted.

That puts either RH or Jdizz as the winner of guessing the date. FYI Monday is Jdizz's birthday!

Congratulations! Is this your first? I just started posting here this week so I don't know anyone very well yet. I've got two toddlers, always organized chaos around here. Enjoy them while they are small!

No matter how you refer to him, I am not calling him Father Biddle.

Even if you've been a naughty nun?

      • Sir Biddle@WIT & AleeD

        Thanks TWO.

Father Biddle just sounds so wrong in that context so no worries on needing to be called that Alee.

There will be nun of that in my dungeon. However it there were, then he would be Father Biddle in the Middle.

Not yet :-), but we do plan to begin the "process" once we get back from GenCon. The idea of doing a gaming convention during my first trimester just sounded like all sorts of bad news. Hubby has been around 1 (one) baby EVER so...

Messed up all around. Thought of you when I heard the story Truth, glad to see you on here this morning. What's our world coming to?

    • Truth™@Biddle

Arguably, Aurora is the armpit of the Denver area, but this is just insane. You think you are going to see a movie with friends and something like this happens.

Do something nice for a loved one today. You never know when you will never see that person again. We waste way too much effort of stupid things and it is all too easy to forget what is important.

Morning. Sad new coming in from Aurora, CO this morning that I just don't understand. Also more than a little perturbed at the cavelier att itude in which a local DJ handle the topic. Talking about the "irony" of the people being shot while watching a violent movie, because apparently if you are seeing a violent movie and murdered it's not as bad as if you had been seeing a comedy. I wrote up an email but I'm not sure who/how to send. Just frustrated with the lack of compassion people seem to have for their fellow man.

    July 20, 2012 at 8:08 am |
    • angrybabykitty

Really? That's absurd. You're right, seems few have any compassion at all anymore. Is there an email for the radio station owner? Or a manager? That might be the best place to send it. If that DJ had one I would send him one too. The comments on the actual story here on CNN is full of trolls too. Even saw on Facebook where some idiot said something about demanding a refund. That's the end of my rant. Sorry to gab so much. Didn't get any sleep last night and I tend to get worked up easily this way.

      • JainaJade@angrybabykitty

I sent an email to the station manager, it's not a shock jock (oldies station) so the comment came way out of left field. I just don't understand people trying to justify and/or rationalize what happened to these people. Shootings like this aren't rational, and justifying the shooting by saying it was a violent movie anyway is just victim blaming.
I need to go bake something...take anger out some dough

"Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is wrong with people??????????" I completely agree.

      I'm saddened by it.
And I'm saddened by the impending reactionary storm that's already brewing.
