A Massachusetts mayor is taking inspiration from a controversial New York City proposal to ban large, sugary beverages – and might even want to take it a step further. Cambridge Mayor Henrietta Davis unveiled a proposal that would outlaw large-size sodas and other sugary drinks in area restaurants to the City Council on Monday. She’s also suggesting that city officials consider banning free refills of sugary beverages, which would be a step beyond New York City’s plan. “Our environment is full of way too many temptations,” Davis said. “This is one temptation that isn’t really necessary.” Read the full story - Mass. mayor suggests ban on large drinks, free refills |

What a completely moronic thing to say.
I'll go along with it when you stop selling cigarettes, alcohol, snack foods, and every other thing that is 'potentially harmful'. It shows what contemptuous idiots the legislaters are.
...add to that the gluttony of federal spending. Balance the budget before you tell us what to do.
Call me crazy, but I think this is WAY overboard. Let's go back to the government worrying about itself and let people make their own choices on legal substances.
I'd like to see some illegal substances become the people's choice – but that's another thread. I wonder why there have been no articles here enti tled "The Hemp in Your Food" ........ or "Cooking with Hemp" ........ or "Hemp – It's Not Just For Sandals"
Agreed. Not to mention that the oil can be used as a renewable form that can replace everything that petroleum is used for. But that hurts the government's best friends so they'll never allow it.
Please no. I am deathly allergic to "hemp" and have had one near death experience from an Oregonian bio-fuel creator dumping his excess in the ferment/mash to extract the oils. His car was death on wheels for me. More comes with it than just the oils. And it would be the nightmare of college dorms all over again... The thought of 1000s of car a day spewing that exhaust near me, I'll definitely be gone or dead. Though my remaining family might be much richer ...
