Prost! It's 'strong beer time'

The scene is a familiar one: women and men decked out in traditional dirndls and lederhosen while they swig steins of beer to the toe-tapping tune of oompah bands.

Must be Oktoberfest, right? Über wrong.

Starkbierzeit, loosely translated as Bavaria's "strong beer festival" and literally translated as "strong beer time," is the lesser known but notably stronger of the sud-soaked events for Müncheners. This year, Starkbierzeit began March 9 and runs until March 25.

    great job CNN – why don't you just say that you approve of all the deaths caused by alcohol drinking drivers on US Highways... when will you stop your hypocrisy? Hey Dr. Drew and Dr. Gupta where is your outrage over the promotion of a narcotic on your employer's website that kills millions of people every year? Oh that's right, it's OK as long as you make money off the carnage.
