Since we NEVER talk Politics on a Food Blog, I do need your opinion on something......You are The Smartest Man in the room. I just saw where Republican Mike Pence filed today for Governator of Indiana. My question is this...Since he already figured out the people of Indiana won't vote him back to Congress...Why in the hell does he think they will vote him in as Governor? Of course if All Hoosiers have a memory like the Queens,It's a given. :))

I think it is pure, unbrideled narcissism. I think that many of these folks crave the limelight so much that they don't know when to quit. So it one office goes south, they will try for another.

I've always believed that anyone seeking the presidency is just a tad bit insane. Not outright lunatic mind you, but something is wrong with any thinking , rational person who wants the job and all that goes with it.

      Just my .02

I think we should just throw everyones SS Card into a giant hat and pick one at random. That person is president for a year and makes their current salary. Then we do it again next year. If we need a hat big enough to hold at the cards, we can just take one from the closet of any current politician. Their heads should be big enough...

What halftime show would you like to see in 2013?

    February 6, 2012 at 2:33 pm |
    • RichardHead@AleeD

Let's go with Rooty Root and The Sex Change Band or Rev Horton Heat.

      February 6, 2012 at 2:40 pm |
    • MicheleG™

Something with a drum line / drum battle! I MIGHT watch that.

      February 6, 2012 at 2:40 pm |
      • AleeD@MicG

That would be COOL! And way more appropriate for a football game.

This is in no particular order, but...

Bob Seger and the silver bullet band.
The surviving members of the Grateful Dead
      U2 (Again)
      Bruce Springsteen (I know, again)
      Chrissie Hynde and THe Pretenders
      Bob Dylan
      Van Morrison
ZZ Top (especially if the game is played in Dallas)
      .38 Special
      Garth Brooks

I think that about covers it...

      • AleeD@Truth

That's what I'm talking about. Man Bands (of course other than Chrissy)! Get some Man Bands in there. Something with testosterone. They'll work just fine.

Don't forget the original Doobie Brothers....Rock On.

        February 6, 2012 at 3:00 pm |
      • Truth™@RichHead, AleeD

You are right, the Doobies would do well in that venue.

Never thought of them as "Man Bands" but you are right. And FWIW, I saw The Pretenders in a small club setting here in Denver a couple of years ago, and that woman can BRING IT! That almost makes up for the fact that she is an adament vegan...:)

        There's also:
        Kid Rock

Don't know if they're all still touring, but I can dream.

        Don't forget Deep Purple

Oh, and a lady who never puts on a bad show, the one and only Bonnie Raitt. She has a new album coming out in March, where she covers Gerry Rafferty's "Right Down the Line" just superlatively. Looking forward to it.

        February 6, 2012 at 4:37 pm |

Skynyrd & Allmann Brothers & Marshall Tucker my favorites :-D

        February 6, 2012 at 9:50 pm |

Swiss Army Drumline. They'd be a hit if we could ship them over here. (Not quite 6 minutes of dazzling drumming.)

My BOWEL movement never got off the ground so I am creating a new occupy movement that occupies golf courses. Anyone interested?

    February 6, 2012 at 1:14 pm |

what's the issue? No greens fees? Free golf carts? Free martinis?

        Full access to all port-a-johns.

        February 6, 2012 at 1:23 pm |

For TWO's BOWEL-Tourney? Hmmm. I'm not sure I'm flattered that you thought of me or grossed our that I get to push around the port-a-johns.

I'll have to polish up my shot glass bandolier.
Whoa. I was looking to post a Google image for the bandoliers. That's not happening. NSFW

        February 6, 2012 at 2:29 pm |
      • Sir Biddle@AleeD

No silly, for his golfing movement. No port-a-john forklift driving for you. Wear sunscreen, it gets hot out there.

        February 6, 2012 at 2:44 pm |
      • AleeD@Sir Biddle

Whew! Ok. How does this sound: a leather cowboy hat, two strategically crossed bandoliers and a pleated plaid skirt. What shoes should I wear? Spikes on a golf course are a given, but ......

        February 6, 2012 at 2:51 pm |
      • Sir Biddle@AleeD

Ummmmmmmmm, tennis shoes would be just fine.....just fine.

Tennis chooz? Well .... ok. If that's what you like.
What shall I do with my hair? Long, dark auburn tresses in 2 ponytails (just coming out from under the hat) or let it flow?

While I'm here, let me knock that thermostat down a couple of degrees. It HAS been unseasonably warm this Winter ...

I didn't watch the game... but I did get a chance to look over past Puppy Bowl (and Kitten Half-Time) clips with my fiance. The cute... was so cute!

I needed my coffee this morning so much I didn't get a chance to savor it like the lady in the picture....

Holy God Above there's alot to juggling doctors! I've been on the phone for the last 2 hours and haven't talked to a doc yet! If things take a left fork in the road instead of right, I may not talk to one either. Sheesh!

    February 6, 2012 at 12:19 pm |
    • MicheleG™

You have my sympathies! The bureaucratic end of things has gotten WAY out of control.

Seems like if you don't throw money at the medical world instantaneously and in GREAT abundance, you simply will not get help, much less straightforward communication with an actual doctor.

      Sincere good luck with that!

      February 6, 2012 at 12:28 pm |
      • Truth™@MicheleG, AleeD

I always have to laugh when a pharma commercial says "Ask you doctor about..."
The last few times I have had to go in, you wind up being taken anywhere from 30 to more minutes late, then you explain your problem to the front desk, then the assistant, then the nurse. Then the doctor goes sprinting through, and you are lucky if you get five minutes.

I have a hard time with our medical industry lately.

        February 6, 2012 at 12:41 pm |
      • MicheleG™

I bet if you showed a $100 bill the doc would stop and pay attention.

Rule 1: Money talks. Rule 2 through 1000: Money, money, money.

I can't complain too loudly. I drive 85 miles to stay with my FAB doctor who WILL talk to me! LOVE him!

        February 6, 2012 at 12:46 pm |
      • AleeD®@Truth & MicG

"Ask your doctor about Cialis." As vague as they have to make those ads, you'd have to ask someone just to figure out what the drug is for. After years of watching THOSE kinds of commercials, if I see two people bathing in Rob & Laura Petrie's separate clawfoot tubs in the middle of the Ocala National forest, I'll know it's an E.D. drug.

What they should tell you is to "our website before visiting your doctor to see if women over 90 can benefit from Pediasure."

Right now I'm having a problem with my GP & specializations. My GP doesn't even want to talk to me about what I'm having a problem with. Every time I bring it up, she throw's up a wall and tells me I need to see a specialist. So today I got that ball rolling ... and I feel like Sisyphus.

And no, Rich. That is not Tom Brady's nickname.

I feel your pain Sista'. Just got home with WD who had to get All her shots, a physical and a hair cut= $ 232.00. Now comes the kicker....they found 2 "masses " under her tail and want $ 400.00 to remove those and that doesn't include meds for 2 weeks after the surgery. Sigh, She and I are getting old.

      February 6, 2012 at 1:42 pm |
      • AleeD@Rich & WD

Aw Bro, I'm sorry. Unexpected expenditures su ck big green ones.
Did they biopsy yet to figure out what the masses are? Fingers, toes & eyes crossed that all goes well. We're all getting older and requiring higher maintenance than we used to. But it sure beats the alternative! ;)

        )))))))hugs 2 u both(((((((

      • RichardHead@AleeD

I have not checked out her butt yet, but being a Spaniel they are prone to getting these little moles on their bods. She's got 2 small ones on her head. Got a call into the vet since I didn't get a chance to talk to him when I picked her up. We'll see.

        February 6, 2012 at 2:21 pm |
      • AleeD@Rich & WD

Well holy insensitivities, Batman! I left half my message off!
Are the masses bothering WD at all? Does she seem to be feeling like herself?

        February 6, 2012 at 2:31 pm |
      • RichardHead@AleeD

They don't seem to be bothering her and she is always a little slow after getting 3 shots in one day. I'm gonna wait and see how she does in the truck this week and after I talk to the Doctor.

Hi De Ho to the Chum-Klatchkies! Had company just to watch the game so I sort of watched it all the way through. I got interested in the game in spite of myself!

Missed the finger insult thing during halftime.
2 questions and 1 observation: What was her agenda? Why couldn't she keep it private? And why should we give a s&$%t? (That kind of stunt makes me put her in the "pretentious twit" category.)

    February 6, 2012 at 12:05 pm |

Good morning all, great game and I even won a few bucks in a pool, so the coffee's on me. I saw the referenced middle finger but figured it was a mistake, but now I'm re-thinking that position. The commercials were ok this year, the ones with animals were the best IMHO. Fun doing play by play via email with Truth and RH.

    February 6, 2012 at 9:28 am |
  8. Sir Biddle

Alright, I must be getting old, but did anyone else miss the middle finger 'malfunction' during the half-time show? I'm just reading hearing about it this morning.

    February 6, 2012 at 8:46 am |
    • AleeD@Sir Biddle

I missed it. Probably 'cuz I was too busy laughing at Madonna almost falling off the stage during her performance. What are the reports saying happened?

      February 6, 2012 at 8:53 am |
      • Sir Biddle@AD

I still think Madonna looks great at her age.

        February 6, 2012 at 9:03 am |
      • Truth™@MicheleG, AleeD, Biddle, RichHead

I had to mute it during the madonna segment just on sheer principle. They need to stick with either the Rolling Stones, U2, The Boss or someone similar.

Truth, that is precisely what I was trying to explain to me hubby last nite. He thought I was being snarky. I was ... just a bit ...but that's not the point. When they announced she was going to do the 1/2 time show, I thought they were joking. Wait ... I feel a QOD coming on ....

        February 6, 2012 at 2:22 pm |
    • ™©JbJiNg!eŚ®™@SirB

Was said middle finger malfunction during one the the cr0tch grabbing scenes by a backup dancer? If so, maybe I glanced it but hard to tell.

Madonna does look pretty good, but I thought she was wearing a wig, no way that was her hair, and she did seem a bit stiff dancing out there...of course I couldn't do 1/2 of what she was doing so not judging. Also HATED the "I LUV Madonna" bit, really?? The 80's stuff was the best and her voice still sounds good, if it was live...
