Part of me sarcastically says, "Aww, prisoners are suffering from eating too much soy. Good!"
Part of me an@lytically says, "Aww, prisoners are suffering from eating too much soy. Maybe it'll benefit science someday. Good!"
Part of me realistically says, "Aww, prisoners are suffering from eating too much soy. Thank God it's not me. Good!"
I am highly allergic to soy. If I were forced to eat it, I'd sue for attempted murder. Soy is, in fact, one of the Top Ten food allergies, and it is torture for people to assume that everyone can and should eat it.
... which is why they have alternatives, like peanut butter and dried beans. Says so right in the article. If you're allergic, somehow, to all three? I'm sure the prison would be able to make a meal that won't kill you.
But I'm also of the mindset that we treat our prisoners far too well.
Tofu is amazing! I had some Japense Nabemono the other day and it was so good! They make it at a place close to my house so I now have a go to spot for it!! http://imunchie.com/aurrutia/munchies/japanese-nabemono
