Pssst! Got a sec to chat?

We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

The Queen called it right,Chumarinos...We have all bonded together for over a year, giving strength, support and general mischievous in all our lives. Today is my last day for awhile...I can't stand to be Moderated for NO reason and especially when I send a post to our Fearless Leader and have that Moderated. That is my last straw. Good Luck,be well all. Love you.

This is so wrong on so many levels. [:'-( Love you, too, RichardHead.

Hang in there with us!! I was moderated last week a few times too and I think the reason for the decline in participation...love you man and I need you around to keep me straight!! :)

      September 25, 2011 at 11:02 am |
    • MicheleG

Yeah, second! Don't go away! We need you here! (even if this thing scrolls upside down and backwards!)

We seem to have a problem here in the Lounge..It is called Moderation Disease. I posted a very nice reply to my friends and JBJ in particular to only have it moderated and removed. WHY??? Take a look back at the dropping numbers of participation of ALL the regulars since the "Change" with this new software or Moderator. Truth asked you before–Why are we being Moderated? No answer. You have heard from MG,Jerv, faith,Queen,JBJ,SirB,in fact the majority of the "regulars" do NOT like this new setup...You asked for our opinion so here is mine...IT SUCKS. We bacame a Family on this Blog...and IMHO ,with the heavy handed moderation you will see less of us.

    • RichardHead@Kat Kinsman

Moderated Again...Thanks,Kat. I guess that answers my question.

Good Saturday afternoon my Homeies...Been out and about getting Big Blue ready for the winter runs this coming year. She is now ready.
    @JBJ
Oh Boy, A New Toy... Let's think this through before you Buy...Must haves on your custom chair,
    1. A cow catcher on the front....this will sweep away all the little rugrats and slow moving Grannies at Costco...in a gentle way of course.
    2. A Big Truck air horn, clear the aisles bitches, I'm coming through.
    3. A very Loud BEEP,BEEP back up warning system,in case you missed running over the foot of Miss Aisle Hog.
    4. A large extendable mechanical arm to reach those items on the top shelf when Hubs is not around.
    5. All around air bags..this is for your protection when doing donuts after scoring the last beef brisket in the cooler.
    6. WD is working on the wiring schematic so we can soup up the electric motor on this baby.
    7.retractable roof for rainy days.
    8. Got to have Flame decals...we spoke of this earlier.
We should have a contest to name this chair–Something techno-logical. Ok. if I missed anything I want you guys and Ladies to throw it on out there.Comfort and control are rule #1.
Anybody heard from SirB...Countdown to kickoff is tomorrow and we don't have his picks. Check with y'all in a little bit. :))

Good Saturday morning! Hubs is making a "semi-homemade" Thanksgiving dinner tonight! Going shopping for a hot rod wheelchair this morning...although not needed now, just to get around casinos, malls, etc.

    September 24, 2011 at 11:57 am |
    • MicheleG

GOOD morning! You should paint the hot rod chair fire engine RED with pin striping in gold and neon blue! You GO, girl!

      September 24, 2011 at 1:37 pm |
      • JBJ_aka Bier Babe@MicheleG

LOL – I wanted Tazer and wendy to trick it out for me! Maybe some flames on the back, a spoiler, or just have the Queen bedazzle it! :-)

        September 24, 2011 at 3:26 pm |
      • MicheleG

too cool! I suggest a fringe of gold tassels around the bottom edge of the seat, too!

        September 24, 2011 at 4:12 pm |
    • RH@JBJ

Do a wheelie for me Beer Babe. Wonder if I'll get moderated AGAIN?

      September 24, 2011 at 6:51 pm |
      • JBJ_aka Bier Babe@RH

Deadeye will be doing the wheelies for me...you should have seen him "driving" the wheelchair thru the airport!! LOL And I am officially "Bier Babe" in honor of Oktoberfest! :)

        September 24, 2011 at 7:42 pm |
      • RH@JBJ

Good for You....I'll have to get you a pair of Kool gloves to wear. I'm glad everything is going well. Does this new chair have airbags,a Truck Horn and Backup Beep,Beep? HA1

        September 24, 2011 at 7:51 pm |
      • MicheleG

One of the gloves simply MUST be COATED in sequins!

        September 24, 2011 at 8:20 pm |
      • RH@MG

Hmmmm.. A Michael Jackson glove you say? Unicorns, Barbie Dolls and Pee Wee Herman?

        September 24, 2011 at 8:37 pm |
      • MicheleG

The "Collective" is us and we are going to Kustomize this wheelchair to a fare-thee-well! JBJ will be "Stylin'" as she motors down ANY Aisle or Promenade you can think of! This is going to be fun!

        September 24, 2011 at 8:49 pm |
      • RH@MG

Well,Before I got Moderated I had some customizations to the chair......A large Truck Horn to clear the aisles....and an extendable robot arm to reach the top shelves in case Hubs is not around. Maybe a small beer tap with cup holders? She will be stylin' with all our help. :))

        September 24, 2011 at 9:07 pm |
      • JBJ_aka Bier Babe@RH & Michele G

You guys are the best! Let's see, a truck horn, a beer keg and beer cup holder, gold fringe, yellow flames, hot cherry red, and a sequined glove on one hand?? I think I would scare small children in this get up! LOL

        September 25, 2011 at 11:06 am |
      • sadaleed@Beir Babe

Hmm ... I could rig up a keg-er-ator on the back ... hmmm.

        September 25, 2011 at 11:16 am |
      • MicheleG

Well, you were handed a really BIG lemon so we are gonna help you make some fabulous lemonade!

  6. AleeD From Home Sweet Home

Happy Saturday to the weekend gang! As soon as hubby is out of the bathroom, I'm going to start the next phase of remodel: try to clean the old wire shelves from the closet. If they clean up ok, we'll re-use them with new hardware in the remodel. Gonna clean 'em in the tub ... ah, he heard me typing and is out now. Heh-heh. ;)

Hugs and good eats to all!

Wanted to thank Jerv and AleeD for responding to my comments yesterday. It's hard for me to jump into the conversations when they are happening as I run a little business here that keeps me off the blogs till I get done late at night.

I know my comments really don't belong here...however...I am what I call a "Large Vat

        September 23, 2011 at 11:06 pm |
      • katydid@jerv

Oops...what I meant to post is that I'm a large vat cooker. Came from a family of 10. 2 parents...6 kids & Grandma & great grandma!

I learned all I know from the Grandma's.

I cook good big food...that can feed a lot of people for cheap!

        And...modified to be very healthy.

Anybody "here" have a flap with the TSA?

    September 23, 2011 at 1:46 pm |

      "Toys Santa Allows"?

      September 23, 2011 at 1:59 pm |
    • AleeD

Not me. Why? Did something happen?

      September 23, 2011 at 2:01 pm |
    • MicheleG

Not me but I was just wondering how far a person could take it. How could you get a formal hearing? Seems like the TSA has degenerated into a rouge department with no checks and balances. What they DO seem to have is lousy publicity (and only that).

      September 23, 2011 at 3:09 pm |
    • Jerv@MicG

I have a sister that worked for TSA and she said it is the most jacked up organization to work for. And if you think all that airport security that they spent god knows how much money on makes us safer, think again.

Thanks for all the positive thoughts! What is everyone up to this weekend??

    September 23, 2011 at 12:21 pm |
    • Jerv@JBJ

Well, nothing exciting going on in my neck of the woods. Just gonna drink and watch some football.

    • AleeD@JBJ

Gonna get to the next stage of remodeling the guest room this weekend! Got the call last nite that the flooring was in, so we gotta pick up the drop cloths & peel the blue tape off the baseboards, etc. Then we'll pick up the flooring, bring it home to let it acclimate, then go shopping for a new guest bed. I'm excited!

This is pretty cool. As a result of the 30 dollar a week thread, this lady started a new blog.

    September 23, 2011 at 11:42 am |
    • JBJingles@Jerv

That is great! Hubs prides himself on being frugal, especially at the grocery store. He save the receipts to show me how much he saves with coupons, etc. LOL

      September 23, 2011 at 12:10 pm |
      • Jerv@JBJ

Ha! Dude is alright in my book. I always use coupons and check my receipt as well.

  13. JBJingles

It's FRIDAY! Yippee. As some of you know, I was diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis last Friday.

An amazying thing has happened since then. The hubs has become super duper supportive and loving, we are talking and laughing (and crying) together, and I don't think I've felt this much love in years... So out of something so bad has come something so good. I am in a very good place right now, but still stuggling with accepting all that comes with this.

That is my "feel good" story for the day! And happy National Biscuit Month!

    September 23, 2011 at 10:57 am |
    • AleeD@JBJ

Happy NBM 2u2! If someone loves biscuits and consumes them, does that make them a biscuit-eater? ;)

Great to hear that hubs is being supportive! As a caregiver, there is little that is more important than having the support of loved ones during times like these. GoodONya! ))))HUGS((((

      September 23, 2011 at 11:11 am |
      • JBJingles@AleeD

I would say, yes you are a biscuit eater! Ha. Thanks for the hugs, and hubs has now gone to a self-described "over-caregiver" LOL He wants to drive me to work 2 days a week (on his non-tennis days) which is not necessary, shopping for a wheelchair, etc. Men are so cute when they just want to fix it! :)

        September 23, 2011 at 12:06 pm |
      • AleeD@JBJ

:) Amen sister, they sure are. (:

        September 23, 2011 at 12:41 pm |

Hugs and lots of love to you! wish I could give you a real hug!

    • Kat Kinsman

Aw hon - my thoughts are with you. I have a few friends going through that right now, and I know how confusing and challenging it can be. Lean on us. We're here.

      September 23, 2011 at 11:33 am |
      • JBJingles@Kat

Confusing is right, and add an overwhelming sense of helplessness...there are no answers which is a tough thing to realize. Thanks for the positive thoughts.

        September 23, 2011 at 12:03 pm |
    • Jerv@JBJ

I like your positive vibe JBJ and glad you and your husband are closer.

        September 23, 2011 at 12:12 pm |

Of course not! How could you ever think I would allude to such a thing? I would never, ever say seomthing like that!

Just wondering, Why do dogs chase their tails?
    Part Deaux
What do they do with it once caught?
    It's mind boggeling......

    September 23, 2011 at 9:28 am |
    • AleeD@RH's QOD

Good morning, Rich. How are you and Lorenna doing on this fine Friday?
Part 1, because they think they can catch them. Same reason they chase cars.
Part 2, they forget why they were chasing it in the first place but hang on anyway and run around in a circle.

      September 23, 2011 at 9:36 am |

        Logical.

        September 23, 2011 at 9:38 am |
    • Jerv@RicH

Haha! The mysteries of life. Sometimes my dog will stare at "something" just over my shoulder like there is someone there and I have to look! Freaks me out.

      September 23, 2011 at 9:47 am |
      • RichardHead@Jerv

Pick up a pair of bicyclist glasses....the ones with the tiny mirrors on each corner. You never have to turn around and will Freak the dog out. You can then Proudly say " I've got my back". :))

        September 23, 2011 at 9:52 am |
      • The Witty One@Jerv

They do that to mess with you. I had a dog growing up that would do something similar. Once I turned around to look, she would steal whatever I was eating. Smart dog.

        September 23, 2011 at 10:02 am |
      • Jerv@RicH@2

Hahaha! Hilarious guys! I love my doggie. Okay, time to get some work done. Have fun!

      Duh, that is easy:
      1. Because dawgs are stoopid
      2. No one knows, because they have never caught it!

Good morning! Thanks for the breakfast AleeD, I love me some apple butter :-D
I see the Food Stamp posts are still going strong...

    September 23, 2011 at 8:32 am |
    • Jerv@JJ

Yup, they are still going at it on that thread. Hey, have you seen in Target the new Star Wars release? All 6 movies with all the bells and whistles. I was gonna get it but decided I'd wait and try and get it used. Too pricey for me new.

      September 23, 2011 at 8:39 am |
      • JainaJade@Jerv

I don't have a Blue Ray player so I won't be doing it. That and I'm not happy with all the changes that Mr. Lucas has made, it's just getting beyond insane at this point. Now if he will re-release the original cinematic version with Han shooting first, then I will hand over my hard earned dollars :-)

        September 23, 2011 at 9:29 am |
    • AleeD@JJ

You are welcome! I just recently got all sparked up on apple butter again. Hubby & I had the opportunity to visit one of our old breakfast haunts from years ago, Skyway Jacks. This place has corn muffins that could be offered up as dessert instead of a bread option. They use cake flour in addition to corn meal and it makes all the difference. ;) It doesn't matter what I order when I go there, breakfast, lunch or dinner, I get a corn muffin and top it with their homemade apple butter for "dessert." Yum!

      September 23, 2011 at 8:50 am |
  21. Jerv@AleeD and All

Good morning everyone. AleeD, bisquits with preserves and apple butter sounds wonderful, thank you. I agree with katydid's post from yesterday. Why the heck can't we all sacrifice just a little, (old, young, working and unemployed) in order to benefit the whole? Instead each group of people are fighting like mad to keep their own little piece of the pie.

Anyway, dispite the rain in VA, it's gonna be a great day!

    September 23, 2011 at 8:24 am |
    • AleeD@Jerv

I'm with you and katydid. Take heart that those of us who can, do sacrifice for others. More is heard from the petty, self-absorbed, I-got-my-rights people because they whine and kick and carry-on the loudest. ;) There have been major debates in our local news recently about having cameras on traffic lights to catch red-light runners. Guess who's raging the most against having them? ;)

Yup. They're also claiming that it's an invasion of privacy. LOL! How that's supposed to work beats me. How are you privately driving thru a public red light?

Yes, Happy Friday! Question for ya. Have you been able to determine the age of Red in Shawshank Redemption when he finally gets paroled?

No, but that is a DANG good question. Maybe I will watch this weekend and take notes. I always figured around 65-70. Still with a few good years left, assuming no major health issues for a man who knows how to get things...:)

I watched it last night. I'll share my theory of how old I think he was after you watch again. Morgan Freeman kicks azz.

Good Morning and Happy Friday all! Got the coffee started. I brought in biscuits, apple butter & strawberry preserves. Tony Baloney will supply the sausage gravy. ;)
