While you're frying up some eggs and bacon, we're cooking up something else: a way to celebrate today's food holiday.

Oh, snap! - July 1 is National Gingersnap Day.

This is one chewy cookie with an international reputation.  Famous for its cinnamon color, crackled top, snackalicious texture and spicy bite, gingersnaps suit even the pickiest of cookie aficionados.

Gingersnap bliss is created when brown sugar, molasses, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and all of the usual cookie ingredient suspects combine.

Bake up a pan of these little beauties and your house will smell like Christmas in July - so kick back with some snaps and a viewing of "Christmas in Connecticut."

Sprinkle a little sugar on top and you'll be snappin' and snackin' your way to a holly jolly weekend.
