Pssst! Got a sec to chat? We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here. Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic. |

I am out all...May check in later. Y'all have a great evening!
Just got around to watching the animal house clip above. In honor of that, a Question of the Day.
How many bites does it take you to finish off a normal, one-patty burger?
1) 1 – I am a beast.
2) 2 – I don't want to choke, after all.
3) 3 – What's the rush?
4) 4 – The potato chips give it flavor.
5) 5 – Darn this small mouth.
6) 6 or more – Women don't participate in eating contests.
for me, it's 6. Hubby can finish a whopper in 5 or 6 bites, where it takes me a lot more than that. He can eat a whopper faster than I can eat a simple cheese burger!
I normally take my time, but I also usually do a thick burger, on a english muffin with bacon (mandatory), so it is usually pretty tall.
I could do a burger the size of the one in the video clip in three bites. I don't normally, but I could. I was thinking I should try for two and see what happens.
I am likely to take my time. Though, depending on how ravenous I am, I can manage to consume a burger quite quickly.
clarification please: is this the number of bites out of the actual burger, or the number of chews it takes to swallow it? cuz i know some guys that will consume a burger in two bites, no chewing necessary. either way, i'm definitely a 6. i eat s.........l............o......................w. :)
Good afternoon everyone! Citrus Grilled Shrimp leftover from last night for lunch, sooo yummy! Off to the dentist in a bit, again, only my benefits ran out in Feb. so now I pay for it all out of my pocket...grrrr. Me thinks the dentists kid needs new shoes, or he needs a new Porche.
Thata actually sounds pretty freakin delish. Enjoy!
I am doing blackened chicken tonight, so I will be doing the leftovers for my lunch tomorrow.
And HOLY Bovine, but that Robin Meade is a cute one! Just noticed in the banner at the bottom of the page. I need to watch more HLN. How can she and Joy Behar (Renowned Liberal Stooge) share the same network???
You were in the lunch/coffee room? Where did she think you were going to eat?
Our suite used to be a bank and the ceiling is twice the height of a normal office. Consequently, the ventilations system is less than great. Any food smells do not circulate out the HVAC system, but just kind of hang. My admin and I are fine with this, but on the days this bird is in town, she always has to kvetch.
On a related note, she has been both bankrupt and divorced twice but shuns the responsibility for either, which tells me she has some deeper issues than the usual office narcissism going on. I try to be patient.
I just had the BEST response to the Office Drama Queen. She was complaining about our toaster (again) since I did a bacon burger for lunch. She told me "I really wish you would not eat in here", and my response was "Tell you what...I will eat only every other day provided you do the same with breathing"...Seemed to shut her up.
Well played sir.
Are you kidding me. She asked you not to eat in the office? What a witch. I'd send out a bulk email to the entire office...
"Since (insert witch's name here) doesn't like it when we eat food brought in from outside, she will be providing us with all lunches from now until she leaves the company."
The h#ll of it is that she is a part time leasing person who was a big shot at her last job and does not quite seem to get the fact that nobody here seems to take her seriously. Lease the D@mned building already and shut up in the meantime...Sheesh.
I don't know what to say. I think you should do bacon burgers every day this week, then next week salmon, or another fish... Then Indian.... I'd just do foods that have a strong smell to piss her off. It would be my entertainment for the week.
WOW. she's a bit self-entitled, isnt she??? sheesh!! goodonya sir for responding in such a manner. some people just need some pegs removed every now and again.
First of all, thank you for the support.
He's a web developer (and professional musician). He's willing to take far away work, as long as he can work remotely from home on a regular basis.
Have him contact **mosborne@c1search.com**. This is the head hunter who called me yesterday. There is a few positions in Ithaca, actually in Genoa, (with working from home 99% of the time). I don't know exactly what they are looking for, I know testers, but he may have something for him as well.
yes yes, i know i'm slacking today in the response department... i apologize. work is taking all of my energies...and no iced coffee today – lunch was a scarfed salad while i run macros. *yawn*
re:WOD – there is a movie called Doppelganger with Drew Barrymore in it. VERY creepy and strange. check it out if you like head scratchers. and Drew Barrymore...
Three times a charm? What is it rated?
i think it's R... there is some 'nudity' in it...
Ok gang, 'fess up!
Who among us is "Breaking News!"...You sir/m'am are freakin hysterical.
**bows...
You made me literally laugh out loud. My admin thought I was surfing something inappropos...
Well done, sir.... Grateful for the desk in outer Mongolia, at this point. The co-workers didn't hear the snort and me choking on my water.
I live to cause laughter. I have a feeling this may be an ongoing thing...
Unlike you slackers, I've actually been getting some work done...and I've dropped all of you down to -15 Klatsch points.
If memory serves, any proper court would have a jester! ;-)
What? But I didn't do anything~! ;(
You are correct but every good jester should know that the Queen should never be the object of his derision.
Young Lady, we need to have a talk about your performance. Close the door please.
Aww... I defended you and everything.
EG and DJCP- I will be re-instating your points. It would be wrong of me to penalize you for the follies of others.
Eatocracy Scorekeeper- Shut your own d@mn door.
Why thank you, My Liege.
You are hereby demoted to town clerk. That is all.
Her Majesty has done nothing to deserve a demotion of that nature!
If need be, I shall champion the honor of the Queen.
In other words, bring it. ;-)
Yay! Long live the Queen of Everything! =D
@SeaBee – Go get 'em!
I was a happy bull before yall went and deep fried my special parts.
.... and now you're a happy eunuch. Even happy eunuchs come from California.
Is there anyone out there who knows how long it takes Gabapentin to take effect? Queen – anyone!?
My Meralgia Paresthetica is starting to act up, and need to take some meds. Also, does anyone know if a Lidocaine patch will nave ill effects if I wear it more than the recommended 12 hours?
I can't get a hold of my Dr. :(
Too bad Q sin't here today I'm sure she would know.
If "Queen" does not start showing some initiative, she won't be able to call herself Queen of an American Girl store.
I think any oral med should kick in after 15-20 minutes. As to the patch – I have used them. I wouldn't recommend more than 12 hours. I recently had a small bandaid on my arm for 2 days and when I took it off the skin around the cut was deep red.
Most oral meds do take around 30 minutes to take effect however, with Gaba you may not get much relief after 30 minutes as it has a cumulative effect. Try the Gaba and if your pain is still not tolerable then try an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen. Make sure you drink plenty of water though so your kidneys don't take a hit. As for the Lido patch, generally you won't get any added benefit from wearing it more than 12 hours but you could get skin irritation at the site. I had something similar with both my pregnancies although it involved a cutaneous nerve in my abdomen. Major ouch factor.
Looks like Frampton got to the Foos...

"Chicks dig it." He does look funny with that tube in his mouth.
Morning, everyone! Sorry I am a little late getting to the party, but I brought in some of my homemade chai, if anyone is interested! Nice and spicy!
And, just for the record, I will pass on the rocky Mountain Oysters. One of the restaurants here served Turkey Nuts. Just as disturbing. http://www.mclintocks.com/menus/index.asp
Yeah I'm with ya' on that one dude.
The coffee Klatsch's resident scorekeeper has been demoted. When reached for comment, the Queen of Everything only replied, "You just wait, Richeypoo...".
And now back to your regularly scheduled Eatocracy...
Due to your late start this morning and your lack of posts since, you are hereby de-moted to "Dutchess of things starting with R". That is all.
Such harsh demotions. She should still at least be Queen of all things R.
Given your attitude, you are on probation. Should your marginal attitude continue, you shall be demoted to "Somewhat unhappy visage"...TThat is all.
Excuse me, what was that, Eatocracy Scorekeeper?
You lose all you gold stars and I'm coming after you, buster!
Just a little nervous now... fiance just lost job. Kinda funky- just had a review that went really well less than two weeks ago and was just told this morning "oh, you didn't improve enough after the review." *two weeks ago*
But he has been interviewing along the time (in fact had one yesterday) and when he told his previous contract company that he was available again was asked "do you want to work for your last assignment again?" (This previous company just had a round of hiring, so they may not need someone at the moment but the head hunter is keeping her eyes open.)
Man, sorry to hear that Mil.
I'm so sorry – I know what he's going through. What does he do? and how far is he willing to travel?
Very sorry to hear that, but it sounds like some wheels are already turning. Best to you both!
What a bummer, but at least there seems to be something on the horizon!
Very sorry to hear this.
))))))))HUGS to you and your fiance(((((((
Good afternoon! Just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone. Not sure how much I'll be around this week between work and home.
For anyone interested new post went up last night, zucchini pancakes with cucumber sauce. http://www.dancingveggies.com/blog for the details.
Ahh, your "lazy version of the Greek Tzatziki sauce" is a winner! Thanks.
Oh Yuck!
Miss Saigon did the shopping alone this week and bought low sodium V8 instead of the regular. Houston (too close to New Orleans) we have a problem.
Worst part is that after today, I will have to slog through five more cans of the stuff, since I REFUSE to waste it by throwing away. I absolutely HATE wasting food of any kind...
I'm with you on that one. Can't stand wasting food. Didn't get enough of it when growing up.
Is there any way you could pick up another 6-pack along the way? Then you could combine them. The low-sodium mixed with the spicy hot would be better than the low-sodium alone. No waste that way.
Or doctor it up with some worcestershire sauce &/or some celery salt.
I've done that – ICK. Add some salt and hot sauce. And drink it over ice. It's much better like that. I can't stand the low sodium version.
I am thinking add some tobasco, hot sauce, bloody mary mix, etc. Heck, maybe even make real bloody marys...:)
There you go. Bloody Mary's are "safe" to drink even at work. It just looks like a glass of V8 or tomato juice :)
May I make two suggestions? Donate it to the local VEGAN Society while wearing a disguise of course or-Hang onto it till the protesters show up again, take it to the roof area and pour away. They could mistake it for blood and will evacuate quickly.
Why don't you get some tomato paste and turn it into a sauce? It won't be the best sauce ever, but spice it up with some O-RAY-GA-NO, and I doubt you'll even notice after long.
Alright, you can just use regular oregano, a fresh tomato or two, some onion and garlic and some ground beef, and I'd bet it turns out decent.
Back by popular demand, I give you the Word of the day! My apologies for being remiss in the past weeks..
Dop·pel·gäng·er /ˈdɒpəlˌgæŋər; Ger. ˈdɔpəlˌgɛŋər/ Show Spelled[dop-uhl-gang-er; Ger. daw-puhl-geng-er] Show IPA
noun
a ghostly double or counterpart of a living person.
Also called doubleganger.

Origin:
1850–55; < German: literally, double-walker
There seem to be several of vapors doppelgangers around Eatocracy lately.
Spot any today?
Not yet..I haven't really been on today.
Just popped in to see what was going on. Now I have to pop back out to get some work done.
I can't wait for another Vegan thread...I have a new name i'm dying to use :)
The first time I ran across doppelgänger (WOD) was in a college english class reading Eddgar Alan Poe.
i'm still here... last nite was a long one... lotsa wind and thunder and lightning and rain... some downed trees but thankfully none on my house. *yawn* diet coke is a must this am... may run to starbucks at lunch and get an iced coffee...it's THAT bad.
We're not in Kansa anymore, are we?
Glad you are OK, I was thinking about you yesterday when I saw the weather channel report on expected tornados. Scary stuff. When we lived in FL, we had one hit the house next to us (there was an empty lot between us). I can now say that yes, they do sound like a freight train!
Morning Chums. I see the topic of choice is an interesting one today. To answer the question raised earlier, between the poop meat and the rocky mountain oysters, I'd take the RMO, and feed them to RichHead's WD.
She doesn't do well with fried foods. It upsets her tummy,I learned that the hard way.
Ah man. You mean I'm stuck with it now?
We can give 'em to TWO and he can use them when playing pool.
Screw that! I'll eat those suckers.
The Evil Overlord should have a food taster anyways...
Sounds good to me. You are now my official food taster. Hopefully not a job with high turnaround.
Do you want me to order the poop meat sandwich as well?
Sounds good! I haven't had Evil Overlord food before!
Hey dude, what human food do you eat that WD just absolutely must have some of?
She loves french fries-it doesn't matter if they are MickeyD's or Sonics she just goes nuts for them. She also loves Church's Chicken strips.Original recipe of course.
Haha! Too funny. My doggie goes crazy for cheese. She doesn't care who it is eating the cheese or what kind, she is determined to get her fair share.
Good morning flamenons and Happy 1st Day of Summer!! Yippee. On another note, WTH is wrong with the drivers this morning?? I don't think my employer appreciates that I risk life and limb just to get here each day. Full moon maybe??
The biggest single perk that I have is flextime, which means I usually grab the 5:33 bus in the morning, so i avoid all of that. I do not envy you. But grab a cup and kick back now that you are here...
WD was giving a full moon last night to all the other drivers. Shake your Booty! HA!
Aha, so it was WD making all the drivers crazy this morning!
Truth – traffic wasn't too bad, but the people driving were really, really agressive this morning, and that's saying alot as this is So. Cal. so we kind of expect it.
Ok, I predict the Rocky Mountian Oyster thread will be going downhill shortly...
Good morning mad klatschers! Beautiful first day of summer in upstate NY. The kids and I will be playing outside all day!!
Good Morning-I hope you and the family are doing well. I could go for some cooler weather without all the humidity.
Good Morning All! I'm craving BACON! Never tried a bull's balls & I don't think I want to. Are they any good? Taste like chicken?
They taste just like Bacon, want a couple? HA-Sorry the opening was there and I couldn't resist. :)))
Hey Lil' Buddy,Did you oversleep this morning?
Yeah, kind of. My car overheated on yesterdays drive home so I dropped it off at the dealership this morning for repair. Hey, did I hear this correctly? Texas is in its worst drought in 50 years and has 20 wildfires??
Yes Sir, that is correct. I-45 the main link between Houston and Dallas was shut down due to thick smoke across the Highway. There were 6 wildfires around the Katy area when I left last night and Houston is now 18 inches below normal on rainfall for the year. I think we need a good tropical storm to head this way. What's wrong with the car?
I saw the same story over the weekend. Not a good thing. If we think that sending troops to the mideast over oil is a problem, just wait until we are fighting over water. *gets off the political soapbox*
According to the ten day forecast, Brother RichHead will bee looking at triple digits by the end of the month. My symapthies Bro!
Good gawd that is fraking hot and dry. You definitely need some rain in your neck of the wookds. It's an old car, heck it could be anything.
Beware the overheating thing. I lost coolant (unknowingly) and blew the head gasket Friday........waiting while the patient is in the hospital for major $urgery. I now know what a "valve assembly" is. And what Magniflux means.
"If we think that sending troops to the mideast over oil is a problem, just wait until we are fighting over water" Dude, I've been saying for years that the oil rich middle east countries should be building water desalinization plants.
And now they want to go into Libya...
T Boone Pickens has been buying up water rights in West Texas, Nestle's LLC has a very large water bottling plant in Michigan sucking huge amounts of water from the Great Lakes and I concur..WATER will be the next great commodity to be owned.
Good morning all. Is it Friday yet? Allergies are quite bad today – pass the tissue please. :)
A full box of Puffs for you and some Bull Balls appetizers are frying up right now. They should fix those allergies.
I think I'll stick to the Puffs only – Thanks, but I'll go Vegan till the balls are gone :)
That's the smartest decision I've heard all day–+1 for Mare.
Just gotta say, Spam is an unholy perverse meat substitute that's made out of God only knows what, but damn it sure is delicious!!
Yep, it sho iz.
Ok, I think I just heard the great political (bipartisan) joke of the day (JOD)
Last week, Presidential Stooge Barack Obama went golfing with Vice Presidential Stooge Joe Biden and speaker of the house stooge John Boener. They shot fourteen trillion over par.
LMAO, thats great!
Hahaha! I think Georgie Bush Wacker had a hand in that group as well.
If you had the choice between eating some Rocky Mountain Oysters or some of the reconstituted meat that was discussed yesterday, which would you choose?
Having nothing to do with my moniker, test tickles! Definitely test tickles.
I just hate spam that much.
I wasn't referring to the spam article. I was referring to the other meat-related article...
Ok. I'm not connecting the dots. Gotta link?
Uhhh, must be the crap burger from yesterday.......
Oh that reconstituted meat. Yeah I'm still down on the test tickles ... with, I meant "with the test tickles."
Now, if it was a choice between spam and reconstituted meat – I'll just stay hungry. *urp*
Spam testicles.....so who raises spam? Is there a spam ranch out there? Do spam run in herds or are they solitary like moose?
LOL! They're the same people who raise nauga's.
I thought nauga's were extinct. I just never see naugahyde anymore.
Never heard of nauga balls, either......
One was spotted in UCLA (Upper Corner of Lower Alabama) just last year. Sadly it was female, so nauga balls are, in fact, off the menu.
Either one is just fine, then again, I am not so picky.
I try to make it to at least one branding every year with the horses, and the appetizer at dinner time is always the bucket full of testicles from castrating all the bulls, making them beef steers. Most ranches I have been too don't bread them, rather saute in butter and garlic, served with fresh french or sour dough bread, essentially make small sandwiches out of them, use bread to pinch up a pile and dig in.
Considering the choices I shall take Baby Seal uterus and dried Yak penis with a nice Jack Daniels and coke to wash it all down.
DING!DING!DING! You win!
Reconstituted meat? I didn't read that article. Where is it at?
Yesterday's coffee klatsch, See wendy's entry @ 3:05pm.
I'd go Vegan. Sorry, but both choices turn my stomach. I'd rather starve than eat either.
I will do a violence to whomever posts a Testical Festival dish!!!!!! (and the gauntlet was thrown!)
First class we shall crush some nuts, heat up our peanut oil and make a delicious french toast batter for dipping later. Don't forget to soak your Balls in buttermilk before dipping and then sprinkle with your crushed nuts after frying.
Ok darlin', now you have forced me...
Ingredients:Servings:
4 4 4-6 Servings Size
Update
2 lbs bull testicles (calf, lamb, sheep, or turkey testicles can also be used)
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 cup flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
1 cup red wine
salt
pepper
garlic powder
bottled hot sauce
cooking oil (for frying) or fat (for frying)
Change Measurements: US | Metric
Directions:
Prep Time: 1 1/2 hrs
Total Time: 2 hrs
1 Split the tough skin-like muscle that surrounds each "oyster" (use a sharp knife). You can also remove the skin easily if the meat is frozen and then peeled while thawing.
2 Soak in a pan of salt water one hour; drain.
3 Transfer to a large pot and add enough water to float the meat.
4 Add the vinegar to the pot.
5 Parboil, drain and rinse.
6 Let cool and slice each oyster into 1/4 inch thick ovals.
7 Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of sliced oyster to taste.
8 Combine flour, cornmeal and some garlic powder to taste.
9 Roll each slice into flour mixture.
10 Dip into milk.
11 Roll again into flour mixture.
12 Dip into wine.
13 (repeat the procedure for a thicker crust).
14 Fry in hot oil or fat seasoned with the bottled hot sauce to taste (be careful, it will sizzle when you add the hot sauce); fry until golden brown.
15 Drain on paper towels.
16 Serve with cocktail sauce if desired.

I just KNEW someone would feel compelled to post a recipe.......interesting though I do not feel compelled to try it.
I always said I would always at least try something once, but....uh, no! You couldn't "repeat the procedure for a thicker crust" too many times for me. I would be afraid I would always be able to bite through it. EEEEEWWWWWW!
Looks like we might get to see Wendy's "poop burgers in rocket launchers" in action after all. :D
TMI! TMI!
Good morning! Seems someone decided to break out the Rocky Mountain Oysters...
Hm... Now that I think about it...
It's all Jervs fault or Bush's.
:)
Lordy.....an odd morning indeed....
I am waking up to a "Testicle Festival" I cringe to ask about "Festival" details.....music? Costumes? OTHER fried foods....? Comparisons between Rooster testicles and Brahma bull testicles. Among others I can think of.
We just had a judge faint and you have been chosen to replace her. Here is a pair of gloves,a magnifying glass and remember, don't walk behind the bull.
WOD: yuuuuuuuuuuuck
Phrase for the day: "I think not."
Alternate WOD: ick
@Alee – It's a decent Mid-Summer morning so far.
@Truth – fresh corn muffins AND apple butter? You are spoiling this morning!
@Richard You too with the spoiling us- cupcakes and donuts...
I'll pass on the testicles though....
Testicle festival is big business in MT, here is a sampling, http://www.outwestnewspaper.com/balls.html
Oh,The Humanity..Even if these were available at The Texas State Fair,I couldn't handle it.
It is more about the party at the big event here, do not, I repeat, do not take the kids. Last time I was there it was full on XXX rated as things got going, the wet t-shirt contest just got things rolling, all down hill from there.
Really? ~_~
That's what my friend said, too. Sounds like my kind of party! If you ever get the urge to visit Key West, I recommend going during Fantasy Fest – usually held at the end of October. What ... a ... wild ... time! Lots of test tickles there, too.
Sounds like a great time to me! Although the odds of me not being in MT at the end of October are slim to none, that is the start of the rifle big game hunting season here, I am pretty much on the mountain from then until the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, actually, from beginning of September through TG weekend, I am a full on addict :)
A friend of mine was planning to move to Polson, MT when the economy tanked. LSS, she ended up not going. But one of the things she regretted about not moo-ving there was that she would miss the Testicle Festival. :) I was even making plans to visit her so we could go to the festival together. People who go must have a ball – or two.
I have a hunting partner that lives in Polson, great corner of the state. If you make it out this way someday, make sure to let me know, I will buy you your first round of testicles!
Thanks! I'll just take you up on that, cuz I certainly couldn't bring my own. HAHA!
LMAO, going to be one of those days, i can tell!
Good morning all! One meeting down, three to go!
Well, you should be able to catch up on your sleep then. Want a cupcake?
I'll pass on the cupcake for now. Thanks!
Morning all! Beautiful in MT to kick off summer as well.
Something is wrong with this picture...We are talking about cupcakes, muffins and donuts for breakfast and right off the bat-Bull Balls in Denver. Seriously?
If you are ever visiting Colorado and someone offers you a Rocky Mountain Oyster, it is a bull testicle. I am not kidding. You don't see them on the menu around Denver too often, but in the mountains and western slope a lot. More of a tourist thing.
Spring and summer skiing out here is ok, but mostly confined to the locals. Beware though to use LOTS of sunblock, as you will get seriously fried if not. Conditions after April are usually pretty marginal though. Most locals have two sets of skis – One good pair and one for "rock skiing" which happens after Easter or so.
Apple butter and pintos are available in the back. Happy summer all!
Saw on our local news that Arapahoe Basin ski resort will be open over July 4th weekend. Hardly great conditions, but some of our locals like to milk the most out of their season passes.
Nice, loving that corn muffin stuff. Yum.
Skiing in July. Wow. I need to get out your way some day, Truth, and get my mind blown. ;) I've always wanted to visit a ski lodge and give skiing a shot. Bunny (nod to SB wherever she is) slopes of course.
Good morning!
Morning! How's your Tuesday going?
Good morning all. I brought in homemade corn muffins, so dig in.
Sunny and warm on the first day of summer here in Denver. Should be a nice day here.
Good Morning Bro..Thanks for the muffins...got any pinto beans to go with that?
Mmmm, love corn muffins. Thank you! Got any apple butter to go with 'em?
hmmm fresh corn muffins....
Good Morning All–Roll Tide! Coffee is ready and we have cupcakes and Donuts for Breakfast. I will be behind the recliner with WD in case a food fight breaks out.
Morning Rich & everyone. Thanks for the coffee. How ya doing?
Who would waste good food like you brought on a food fight? ;)))
Good Morning from Beautiful but cloudy Mobile AL. Things are good this morning, ran in a little rain last night which helped wash off the Texas dirt. I have in my possession 4 creme filled cupcakes with the Queens name on them in case she is the first one to throw down.:))) How's your morning so far?
Ahhh, it always seems to go back to the Queen, doesn't it. ;) Y'all have so much fun! If ya find a way, would you send some of that rain down to us in the W. coast of FL? We sure could use some. Things should be looking up in that dept, come Thur.
Morning's good. Work's calling, but I get the chance to check back here every now & then. Are you picking something up in Mobile?
WD and I are taking our break here before hitting Jacksonville tonight to unload Texas produce. One clue about the Queen, she throws like a girl so nailing her with a nice moist cupcake should be no problem.
