Pssst! Got a sec to chat?

We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

The Truth is in the building. That's right..He and The Beautiful Bride are at home singing John Denver songs to each other. Glad they made it safely. Have a good evening everyone.

        Ah yes. THAT whipping.

My sources inform me that you are lazy and slow and deserve to be punished ... severely. Go tell THAT to your wife. If she's any kind of woman with a backbone, she will have her own form of punishment for you. If you have the cojones to come back for more, you would do well to remember to crawl to me, begging for forgiveness.

For the record, I've been known to lash-out just for public nose-picking, you worthless cur.

they are great! I had to take the youngest to the dr on Tuesday because he had a bad case of pink eye. I have no idea where he got it and so far, no one else has gotten it. But the drops have done what they are supposed to do, so he is looking good now!!

Now, why on earth would you want to ruin a perfectly good chocolate glaze?

      May 26, 2011 at 2:45 pm |
      • Mare@SeaBee

I know it would be messy, but it's hard to carry the coffee and 2 donuts without messing 1 up anyway – so this way, at least your fingers don't get overly gooey.

        May 26, 2011 at 2:48 pm |
      • RichardHead @Mare

That's why there are donut holes. Your pinky finger can hold 3 of 'em.

        Those still have holes.

      • RichardHead @Mare

Hmmm..good point. can you balance them on your nose like the seals at Sea World?

        May 26, 2011 at 3:06 pm |
      • Mare@RH

I could, but then I would have to hold my head up at an odd angle, and I would probably spill my coffee.

        May 26, 2011 at 3:17 pm |
      • RichardHead@Mare

Dooooh! O.K. I got a Brainstorm...I will steal a window tray from Sonic. We will put the coffee and donuts on the tray and then put the tray under your chin. The magnetic arm will fit into your belly button(if you have an innny) and you are free to walk around. I'm a genius.

        May 26, 2011 at 3:25 pm |
      • Mare@RH

GREAT... My husband is already on a "Goa'uld" kick, so having a tray would just be icing on the cake.

Although it would be easy enough to carry food. Forget the utensils – just do a face plant and eat. LOL

I just opened a fortune cookie from lunch and it says

What kind of crappy fortune is that?!?!

Not only that but the learn chinese phrase on the back is the work "friendly".

Is my cookie implying that I don't build good relationships cause i'm not friendly? WTF Fortune cookie!

    May 26, 2011 at 2:02 pm |
    • Jerv@2

That's a totally wacked out fortune. Fuk, buy a lotto ticket to counter the bad karma.

      May 26, 2011 at 2:07 pm |
    • AleeD@TWO

Sounds like the paper didn't get printed correctly at the factory. ;) Or maybe it's a 2-sided fortune! Either it means there's a friendly relationship in your future or you're soon going to have a relationship at Friendly's.

Since you brought it up, I have to share this: whenever you read the (properly printed) fortune from a fortune cookie, end the reading with the words, "in bed."

For example: "Good fortune will follow you everywhere you go – in bed."

      May 26, 2011 at 2:10 pm |
      • The Witty One@AleeD

We do that here at work :) I tried but "relationships. in bed" is not specific enough for me.

      Fruit: 50 cents
      Cheese: 1 dollar
      Crackers: 50 cents
      Service: 1 dollar

A tip for all the grillers in regard to the other thread. My SIL takes a white onion and cuts it in half, then when the grates gey hot, rubs the cut side of the onion on the grill, cleans and seasons in one step! Best burgers we ever had off a grill! :)

        May 26, 2011 at 2:02 pm |

May I recommend m'am that you use both sides of the paper. Just another fabulous tip from your friends at Cheapo Airlines. Enjoy your flight.

This weather is freaking incredible. 42 degrees outside, spitting ice pellets and Monday should be 90. WTF!?
The storms blowing thru last nite had me on edge. My son's dog (border terrier) freaks out when it thunders. Bet my son didn't get any sleep last nite. His 10 month old baby girl should be waking him. Not the dog.
FAA has me rolling-thanks. Thinking of Truth & his bride – safe travels.
Mare – which marinade did you go with?
    Saturday – grilling ribs
Sunday – grilling bayou bourbon chicken

    May 26, 2011 at 12:41 pm |
    • Mare@Chi Lady

I ended up going with one with 3 ingredients.

1 C low sodium soy sauce
      1 C sake
1 C brown sugar (not packed)

I figured it was a good starting point, and then I could add what I wanted to – but it didn't need anything. I wanted a really basic sauce that would go with everything. May even grill up some pineapple basted in the sauce tonight – if it isn't horrible weather.

      May 26, 2011 at 12:44 pm |
    • Jerv@CL

grilling bayou bourbon chicken- -that sounds great. Is this a new recipe for you or a staple?

      May 26, 2011 at 12:44 pm |
      • Chicago Lady

About to try it for the first time. A coworker was selling products (like pampered chef) and I bought a bottle pre-made. Looking at the ingredients its mostly brown sugar with a little hot sauce so I think it'll be sweet with a little heat.

    May 26, 2011 at 11:14 am |
    • Queen of Everything from the Castle@JJ

Oooo, the Marriott, very swanky. FYI: I've heard the Italian restaurant in the hotel sucks. The service is poor and the food is only so-so. When are you going to be in my fair city? We should do lunch or dinner or something.

      May 26, 2011 at 12:38 pm |

I will be there for GenCon so I think the first weekend of August, not sure what free time I will have until closer but totally up for a get together!
Normally I eat at the Noodles Place and the sketchy looking (but delicious) cafe across from Lucas and right before you hit the train tracks. Indy is not quite a vegetarian city so my choices are limited :-(

Thank You...When WD wakes up from her nap I'm gonna duct tape a Mexican Palm frond to her tail and give her a belly rub. She wags that tail and it drops the inside temp by 20 degrees.:))

So... I hear that out of all the choices of people to perform during the Americal Idol finale, JUDAS PRIEST decides to show up! Any thoughts on that?

    May 26, 2011 at 10:40 am |
    • Mare@DJ

They are still around? Did not know that.

      May 26, 2011 at 10:49 am |
    • AleeD@DJCP

LOL! 'Cuz they're tight with Aerosmith? Seriously, my guess is they're promoting their Epitaph tour. A.I. would certainly give them exposure to a large number of people. What are y'all's thoughts?

      May 26, 2011 at 10:55 am |
      • DJChilllyPhil, Jukebox King & Cold Stone God@AleeD

One of my first thoughts were: LET THE METAL INVASION COMMENCE! Other than that, I think it's pretty cool.

        May 26, 2011 at 10:58 am |
      • AleeD@DJCP

I'm not an A.I. fan, but I'm with you on the Metal invasion. BIO!!!

Good morning, all! Seeing more of the damage from the newest outbreak of tornadoes. Eek.
@QoE and ChiLady – Was thinking of you guys yesterday when I saw the weather reports. Hope all is well in your neighbourhoods!

Good Morning! Very windy in the windy city this am. And heavy rain to boot. Wish I wore my boots because it's 2 mornings in a row now that my shoes are soaked when I arrive. This am, I kept muttering sh!t as my umbrella kept turning inside out. I work at a big bank. I've been in asset based lending for 30 years now. Quite a tight community and highly specialized. I read legal agreements and extract pertinent info from them to load on our system. Sounds really dull, I know, but my boss is great and the 50 people in our group are like a big happy family.

    May 26, 2011 at 9:51 am |
    • Jerv@CL

That sounds similiar to a job I had a few years back. We collected all kinds of publically available info and fed it into a database. We used to call it "feeding the beast."

Also, I'm not sure if I got that gift you were talking about before AleeD...

Delayed take off due to chords handing out of one of the tires...tell us that that means we have 10 more landings before needing a tire change....just hope they didn't forgot to notice this 10 flights ago!

    May 26, 2011 at 9:18 am |
    • AleeD@JBJ

HA! Maybe it was 9 flights ago and that's why the delay. ;)

      May 26, 2011 at 9:24 am |
    • FAA@JBJingles

Ladies and Gentleman, shortly the flight attendants will be handing out plastic underwear. This is just a pre-landing precaution.
Thank You for flying Cheapo Airlines and have a Good Day.

      May 26, 2011 at 9:25 am |
      • JBJingles_from 38,000 ft@FAA

Please make sure to pass out free beer before landing, I hear that's required for sliding down the chute! :)

    • AleeD@JBJ

Howdy! Can you see us leetle teeny peeple from waaaaaaaay up there?

Did you enjoy your pat down? :) I had to have one recently because I didn't know I was supposed to take my belt off. ;) So they checked every square inch ....... just to be safe. OoO

      May 26, 2011 at 9:21 am |
      • JBJingles_from 38,000 ft@AleeD

LOL – Too many clouds, can't see a thing! Glad to be getting to Atlanta early in the day though, they had some rough landings there on Sunday I heard. Apparantly the metalic decor of my shirt caused "scatter" on the xray, thus the pat down, nothing too thrilling...done by an overweight female guard in a too tight uniform. :(

        May 26, 2011 at 9:29 am |
      • AleeD@JBJ

Soooo, if you're flying into Atlanta, odds are you're flying Dull-tard, right?

Yeah TSA (not The Smart Aleck) doesn't have much of a sense of style or humor, does it? They treated you ok, didn't they?

        May 26, 2011 at 9:34 am |
      • JBJingles_from 20,000 ft@AleeD

They were fine to me, just doing their job, so no complaint. I'm a seasoned traveler so I know what to expect and to not get upset...unlike the hubs! And yes I am on D E L T A, but I like them, nicer than most others... Got to go for landing, talk to you all on the ATL-LAX flight! :)

        May 26, 2011 at 9:43 am |
      • AleeD@JBJingles_from 20,000 ft

Awesome. I hear so many stories in the news about how people are mistreated. But when BB or I fly, it's without incident.

Maybe the complainers are really militant vegans trying to convert the TSA employees to go meatless and all we hear about is TSA's retaliation.

        May 26, 2011 at 9:55 am |
      • The Witty One@AleeD

        TSA spelled backwards is Vegan.

Damn, go into a meeting for 20 minutes and I miss all kinds of stuff.

I was referring to your "Maybe the complainers are really militant vegans trying to convert the TSA employees to go meatless and all we hear about is TSA's retaliation." statement :)

      • AleeD@TWO

Ah. Glad I asked. ;) I thought you were trying to guess some of my trolling names on today's other threads.

It's certainly been a fun day so far. Only 4-1/2 more hours to go!
