While you're frying up some eggs and bacon, we're cooking up something else: a way to celebrate today's food holiday and the most delicious finds on TV.

It’s okay to go a little bananas: February 23 is National Banana Bread Day.

Chewy, comforting and slightly sticky, banana bread is enjoyed best with a cold glass of milk (for when it gets a little stuck on the way down). And yes, it is acceptable to use your fingers for extracting the rogue crumbs left on your plate.

Orange you glad we said banana?

I use a banana bread recipe from a cookbook produced by the local church retreat house in the 60's – it's never failed me and everyone loves it. And as a bonus, my mom has some recipes in the book, so it's extra special to me. :-)

I always eat banana bread in the spring. Come to think of it, I'm not sure why. It should be a fall thing, but that is when I eat pumpkin bread.
