Eatocracy Associate Editor Sarah was just strolling her way through New York City's Javits Center, her mind (and mouth) on the thousands upon thousands of glitzy new goodies on offer at the 56th Fancy Food Show when she stumbled upon these beauties. Heirloom tomatoes - not so much new-now-next as old-then-always and quietly outshining all the surrounding schmanciness. She couldn't resist snapping a picture.

And you oughtn't deprive yourself of a chance to sample Eatocracy's original heirloom tomato lemonade. Spike it with rye, if you'd care to; it's kinda like a sandwich in a glass - in a really good way.

Each weekday, Lick the Screen will showcase a food photo that sets our stomach rumbling. If you'd like your work to be featured, submit your pictures to the Eatocracy Flickr pool or leave a link in the comments. We'll get in touch if what we see makes us weak at the knees.

I saw that tomato, practically threw myself on the ground and begged for it, but no go, luckily I found one almost as gorgeous at my farmers market yesterday!!
