While you're frying up some eggs and bacon, we're cooking up something else: a way to celebrate today's food holiday and the most delicious finds on TV. June 23 marks a countrywide observance of the utmost importance: it's National Pecan Sandies Day. Pecan sandies are similar to the standard shortbread cookie: crisp, crumbly and loaded with butter. The cookie's namesake stems from the addition of chopped pecans to the dough, and its characteristically "sandy," or sugary, texture (a little sprinklin' of sugar never hurt anybody). Go on - embrace your inner Cookie Monster.
